Try right-clicking on the image you want to link.  Depends on the browser type, but it should give some kind of option to copy image location or just copy - that is what is used to paste here.

I followed the link for the toadfish, just right clicked the image and pasted into the edit function here ... it does work.

Jack

Thanks Jack...got it!

I remember the good old days when most ISPs gave you a web site with a reasonable amount of memory, and you could post pictures on those, of course, so that would be useful for FSM forum.  Changed ISPs, and no web site any more.  I wonder if I could post picks on facebook and link to those.

There is a problem from what I understand with direct linking using Google Photos or Amazon Photos. I actually right clicked on the image from inside the album and chose copy image link which allowed me to post them here. The downside from my understanding is that the link is temporary and usually changes within 48 hours or so it therefore breaks the image wherever it is posted. I actually spoke with Amazon about direct linking and other than the templink you can get by doing what I said above, they have no way to direct link.

My test? post in the testing forum is using both Amazon and Google and I am monitoring it to see if the links do indeed break after a day or two.

Very hard to believe that finding good photohosting site with direct link capablilites is this hard in this day and age.

Trying it from Google Photos:

I use flickr too.

The fastest way to link images, open each one in a new tab (right click on the image gives you that option).  Once that is open,  at bottom right is an arrow pointing downwards, left click and chose view all sizes.  Then right click the photo and copy image location option is the saved url you use to link in forums.

regards,

Jack

Cheers jack, i will try that. Might save me trimming the text to cut out the extra stuff.

Awesome Jack! That worked well, added them to my post above using your method. I like how you can easily change the size too. I did notice I have to be in "Photostream", wouldn't work in Camera Roll.

Just to add to that. the problem you have is you get code posted after the image

1 by Martin Bishop, on Flickr

Like that.

So after i have posted i trim it. But i can't show you as it doesn't post all the text you need to trim.

Bish

I just have the free one

Bish, how do you get the pics to post on the forum using Flickr? I do it through the share button but just get a box with a "X" when I use the insert picture button on the forum.

Ye, i had the same problem. You have to just post the link directly onto the page.

Don Stauffer

I had a time posting pics yesterday, using Photobucket.  In addition to the slowness of loading the photos themselves to PB, it continued to slow down my browser almost to a standstill while I tried to insert the photos in my FSM forum message (I have a tabbed browser, so I keep tabs for both FSM and PB open during the session).

As a workaround, to speed things up until I find a new photo hosting site, here is what I did yesterday.  I had my word processor open.  Then, after uploading the pics (four of them), I copied the URLs, and pasted them into a page on my word processor.  The crap going on in my browser did not seem to slow down the word processor).  I then closed down the browser, and then restarted it.  Then I went to the forums, and composed the messages, copying the addresses from the word processor to the window opened by the insert photo icon. That went much faster than when I have the browser still open after visiting PB!

Don, thats what i was finding all the time, i have both tabs open as well. And every time i was moving the pics fromPB to a forum post, i was just waiting for it to freeze all together so i had to doa re-start and do it all over again. Atleast hearing all this i know it wasn't just me and my laptop.

I have to say that as of yet, i have not had any issues like this on Flickr and now i am getting used to it, i am likeing it. Though the long links are a pain and i am trimming them to avoid having linked writing below the pics.

I gave PostImage a look over and is very simple and easy to use and being a free site, did notice no pop up adds like some other free sites. For those that use it, have you gotten any pop up adds at all?

One vote for Image Shack. Nominal cost with much better images and resolution. No ads--all worth it.

I agree with you Max but don't like them ignoring one's emails like they did for me.

I hadn't used an image hosting site in a while. I decided to log in to my Photobucket account and it was s-l-o-w. When I was finally able to try uploading an image, ads galore. When a site goes crazy on intrusive ads, to me it's usually a red flag - they're hurting for money to keep running.

I ended up signing up for an imgur.com account. I've only uploaded a few photos (I haven't taken that many pictures of my models) and it went pretty smoothly.

I did look at Flickr and backed away when I saw it was a Yahoo service. I don't sign up with anything Yahoo anymore. Personal choice (I used to use their services extensively).

I'm too cheap to pay for a service... I know it's on my laptop so I can get it thru there. But to add it as an app on my iPhone costs money... no thanks
