What's the guys address, I'll arrange to have the wife disappear.

No charge.

I know you're joking around, and it doesn't bother me a bit that you are, but watch whatcha type on the forums - some of this stuff can you get you in some legal hot water. Too bad that things have gotten this way in the last few years.

DD,

You are a 100% correct with that statement. You have to watch everything now, everything.

If she was tired of looking at them I'd have bought her some dark sunglasses..... Cool

Gee, sometimes I get depressed about being single, and then sometimes I hear about horrible women like this and think it's better than being in a terrible relationship.

That's not spite Hunter ,that's empathy,a very fine quality. Nice kits, looking foward to seeing a few finished. It took me two times, but my second is a keeper.

My ex-wife and my currrent wife have always been supportive of my hobby, never complaing about my picking up kits and never building them all. But coming up on 64 in November and with my extremely slow build rate, I decided to bring the stash down to a more manageable level by selling over half of it at an upcoming Model swap meet on the 16th. Figure what I have left ought to hold me well into my eighties.

Tanker-Builder,

That's a great story TB, and thank you for sharing that. We all have "little complaints" about our best half. But when it comes down to it they always have our backs and support us in whatever corky or carzy things we get ourselves into.

"The Box" that was a one in million find, and that's great that the woman contacted Ina to inform you of the other items. And your plans for your kits is a awesome idea and I will follow your lead. Thank you again TB.

Hi Hunter !

You know , I feel for anyone in that position . Some years back , before Ina Passed we went to a yard sale .She bought a large sealed box labeled Ships . She said the lady wouldn't even let her hubby open them !

We talked about it later in the evening over a Brandy and she said " I hope I never do that to you " Well , she had her hobbies ( she collected coins and pocket knives !). And at the time we got hitched  , I had four commissions from Clean bay in California .

She would bring me a Tankard ( that's what I called that cup ! ) Of coffee and stand or sit and watch , Sometimes asking questions .

To get back to the Box she bought . I opened it the next day . It was one of the large storage boxes from that well known storage and trailer company - U - Haul ! Inside were the following . The full line of Revell Victory at Sea kits , plus a scad of the LifeLike /Pyro Boats and such , on the bottom , a whole collection of Airfix and Lindberg P.T. Boat kits all sizes ! Except the very large one !

Ina had exchanged phone numbers with the lady . She called and said there was a second box that was supposed to be sold with the one we had . Would we please come pick it up ! .

Shocked , we did ! It to was full to the brim with floaty thingys . It was a wardrobe box full to almost overflowing ! with Italeri ,Heller , Lindberg , Revell and Tamiya ships .

In a waxed envelope on the bottom was research material ( Photos ) of better than half of them with extra decals too ! I really felt sorry for this guy ,  believe me . I have built about a third of them and believe me , when I got a 1/200 U.S.S. Arizona from a client as a gift I was shocked at how ship prices in modeling had gone up !

The prices were high enough that I never was able to afford to add the 1/350 " Beehive Island " Enterprise to my stash . My son Fixed that ! Well , there you have it . I am donating everything to Help Disabled Veterans and the local V.A. Recreation center when that time comes .

Oh , Ina , NEVER , EVER , told me what she paid . When I would ask she would convolutedly change the subject .

"I said get rid of them"
Posted by Hunter on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 8:00 AM

Hello all,

I was on my way home from work the other day and I noticed a yard sale. What caught my eye was two large tables stacked with model kits, so I pulled over. After I reached the tables an elderly gentleman approached and asked me if I had a kit in mind. I replied to him with a friendly "all your kits are nice". As we talked I noticed a elderly woman coming toward the table with a very stern look on her face. The gentleman stated it was his wife, and we continued to talk about the kits. When I started making my selection he was calling out the cost of each one.

As he was doing this his wife kept giving him the "evil eye"and saying no. At this point I was feeling horrible for this man as I could tell he was embarrassed and being controlled by her. The woman told him to lower the prices and "Get rid of this stuff" I mean it! She then turned and walked off. The man informed me that his wife was making him get rid of his stash because she didn't like looking at it anymore. I then started to rethink my picks to help him retain his kits....I hate to say it, but I kinda did this out of spite and to help him keep some of his stash. After making my picks and putting a good arm full back the man gave me a look as if he knew what I was up to. As I gave him my money he gave me a big smile and a whink, and wished me a great day.

As I made my way to my truck, I couldn't help but feel sorry for this man. Because I could tell he had been modeling for along time and his wife was making him get rid of his enjoyment.
