I like Fotki for $ 24 a year. It's funny to look at other members pictures on their free host sites and see all of the ads for prostitutes.

Sorry GM but not with Postimage. I have zero pop ups and no junk at all.

I officially dumped my Imageshack account today and removed all my pictures and deleted my info since my subscription expired today. The darn fools don't answer emails even when there is something wrong with their site and tech support is needed so screw them.

Same with Flickr. All you get when you open a posted photo is the photo.

They now list a $99.00 plan that will have 3rd party hosting for non-commercial use. Now they seem to say the $399 account was "only" for Business use.

The site is now slower than a 1200 baud modem over a dial-up line. Practically impossible to look at others photo's.  It had been easy to locate many of the missing photos from FSM posts by going to the members photobucket page. Not easy now. Site is Slow Slow Slow and Useless!

GM,  I believe you are correct on that bandwidth issue.  I am now a IMGUR and Flickr user and soon to be a postimage member.   God Bless America , land of the free hosting Sites.

I’m pretty sure they were sold to a company that wants their bandwidth, clean. So they are getting rid of traffic.

Well if that be the case then I'd assume they're doing a great job of it! After all, why would anyone with the I.Q. above that of an egg timer be willing to pay such an exorbitant price for a photo hosting site with the plethora of free ones available. Even though I use Imgur to save pictures that I might wish to upload on a Forum site I never put any pictures on there that I think are extremely important to me and wish to save without any chance of losing them. I don’t take and or save all that many photos, but for those that are important to me I’ll either save them to my computer, and or transfer them to a USB memory stick as I trust no one when it comes to the Internet. Might be a tad paranoid, but better safe than sorry.

I'm simply amazed and confounded beyond belief that anyone in his or right mind would actually be willing to pay $300 per year for this asinine photo hosting site when there are a plethoira of free ones available! I'm even more amazed that they have not yet gone out of business with their ludicrous piracy!

No, it's $400 a year, if you want the account with 3rd party hosting.  The Plus500 account.

They made me an offer in my email today.  A year's worth of service including 3rd party for $99.99.  The offer is only good for 7 days.

That's better, but....

Heh ... if I had gotten that email, I'd reply back with a two word sentence that begins with the letter F and the second word starts with the letter O. LOL!!! Hey, somebody gotta let your feelings known to them after that crooked stunt they pulled on us.

I've been getting emails soliciting new business from them.  I've blacklisted them as spam in my email account.

I like the organiser as well. Took a few days and a bit of help from guys here to work through it, but now find it far easier and more useful than PB.

Amen to that! And have you noticed how quickly the images come up when opened from your post? It is almost immediate. I don't think that I have seen an image hosting site that is faster. And... the images are clean. They don't pop up loaded with a bunch of salacious adds. Heck... I can even use my IPad to post images. I couldn't before using PB. I hope that they never change because it is awesome, for something free.

Agreed, i certainly hope they don't change. I have noticed it is quick and i have a very slow connection at home. I only switched a couple of months before PB's meltdown because PB was getting such a PITA to use, but wish i had done it sooner.

Not any more.

I had a paid account, the basic subscription, and so, I didn't lose hosting, until my subscription expired at the end of 2017.  I cannot access the account now, without paying for one of the new subscriptions.  It's not a big deal, because I didn't store images there, I only used PB for hosting and linking images.  Last year, I started using Postimage, too.  Free, no ads (as of now), but it is a relatively bare-bones website, too.  But sufficient for my needs.

So far I am extremely happy with Flickr and it's free. Once you learn to navigate it it works really really well. And it's fast. Better still.. it isn't loaded with adware.

After I went through the hassle of deleting all my images on Photobankit, it occurred to me that they likely back up their databases periodically....

Still, it made me feel good at the time Big Smile

It wasn't photobucket who "did" it, it is someone else who grabbed your picture off your album.

You certainly can go in and delete stuff. I grabbed all of my photos on day one. Then I just left them there as I didn't really care that much, and if I suck up a little of their bandwidth, so much the better.

But years ago, when I was starting my career, a boss of mine gave me the advice that  when writing a letter, always operate on the assumption that (a) whoever else is a subject of it will get their hands on a copy, and (b) a copy will be stapled to a telephone pole on Main Street.

Technology has changed, but I still follow that advice in principal.

Which is all to say, I don't put stuff on the web unless I release any further control over it.

I am quite happy with Imageshack.

Call me ignorant with computers, but i didn't know they did that without permission.

According to Photobuckets "term's of service" You gave them ALL right's to your picture's the minute you agreed and put your image's on their site. They can now make a profit from your picture's and do with them as they please.

And there's nothing legaly that you can do about it.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

I think they lokced me out sometime ago, Im not sure how to access my pictures anymore.  On top of that, I was doing some picture searching on a base I was stationed at during Vietnam while trying to help another G.I. with his agent orange claim and to my surprise I found shots from photobucket during the search.  They did get one shot wrong though, it was actually a picture I took at Ellsworth, S.D. but it did have a B-52 in it.

Call me ignorant with computers, but i didn't know they did that without permission.

Ever since the Photobucket fiasco I have been using  imgur. It's free and it works fine.

I’ve been using imgur for years on different forum sites as I’ve always had a strong dislike for Photobucket, which now seems somewhat prophetic.  It’s free, easy to use, ad free and automatically gives you a link to copy & paste for forums and message boards. Granted, the home page is cheesy with a mess of childish memes which you can just ignore and you have the option to easily set your album privacy to 'hidden’.

After trying several others, like Google Photo, and having problems with some folks seeing images and others not, I have settled on Postimage (postimage.org).  Free, and faster to load than Photobucket was, plus, so far, anyway, no advertising.

I wouldn't give (or sell) PB the time of day or night. Lots of other choices out there, free and pay.

I settled on Imageshack for mine,  $40 a year and no adds or hassles, and happy with it.

Anything from PB now goes straight to spam folder and gets dumped.
