It is amazing how fast our bodies get out of shape. I didn't exercise during Christmas week and News Year week. Things were just too hectic. I exercised yesterday and today my body is stiff as a dead dog.  Has anyone else experienced this ?

I mountain bike every weekend - rain or shine.

I also have a weight machine at the house.  Previous owners left it.

   I truely believe that exercise is good for the body and mind. I really do.....however the snarky guy in me can't help but laugh when the 3 pack a day, whiskey drinking fool lives to be 100, and the 45yr old fitness junkie dies of a heart attack in a 5k run.

     AGAIN I whole heartedly believe that exercise is good....I just choose not to do much of it. Although I have seen a mountian bike with tires almost as big as my motorcycle....looks kinda fun for a fat guy like me?????

That is quite a ride indeed. I'm 63 and ride 10 to 14 miles 3-4 times a week and I have lost a good 10 pounds. I have a Schwinn Mountain Bike and have been told by other riders that one gets a harder workout on it than on a regular road bike.

Right now with the cooler temps I barely break a sweat but during the hot Florida summer months it's a different story.

Going to check out that TRX. Looks fun and need to work on my flexibility since I don't play "real sports" anymore. The family had a mini Turkey Bowl and "somebody" threw passes that resembled wounded ducks.

I lift weights 4 times a week and do the ellipitical 5-6 times a week during the crappy months.(Oct-Mar) Then anything outside...golf, frolf, swim, hike, kayak, bike, etc. I have to keep my body in shape for my second career as "that guy with the golden retriever" in all of those commercials.

 

Cardio exercises are really good for your heart. However, they do not do much for your core or your joints. TRX really works out your core and stretches your joints. My instructor mixes TRX and cardio during the workout. I'll say it again, I am almost 70 and I do not have any muscle or joint issues. Full flexability. Plus, I love the body buzz afterwards.  The only problem that you may have is that you may not be able to move the next day after doing TRX.

I exercise 3-4 times a week - 35 minutes on the cardio strider set at intervals, 15 minutes on the epilipical machine, and sometimes squeeze in 10 minutes on the rowing machine.

It's good to see that a bunch of us exercise. I think that exercising is the fountain of youth.  Plus if you exercise really hard you get a tremendous body buzz (runner's high) that lasts for a long time.  You have to love that!!!!

I'm a 4th degree Master Instructor in Tang Soo Do karate, been doing it for 26 years. I teach 3 two hour classes each week, and take class myself for 2 hrs. At 65 there are things I can't do like I used to, but that's what my 18 yr old assistant is for. I travel a bit to other schools in the area here to work with their older students on being OK with their limitations and still getting the most out of their training.

When it's dry outside and temperatures are in the 50s or better, I ride bike.  Once we get to spring and get enough daylight, I ride 20 to 25 miles a day, 5 days a week.  It's a road bike, not a mountain or trail bike.  In the fall, I ride with friends on a team to raise money for MS research.  We ride the City to Shore tour across New Jersey, from Cherry Hill to Ocean City and back.

When the weather gets colder, I walk, about 4 miles a day.

But back on the 30th, I sprained my right knee, so for now, I'm grounded, till it heals up.

A PS--I get a good, brisk walking pace from Sousa marches.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

I do 30 minutes on the stationary bike 2-3 times a week,along with 20 minutes 2-3 a week on various weight machines.Since I retired last year I have more time so I have more time to exercise.

Just 12oz curls, and I have to say, I think I can do a lot of them. Well, I'm really not that sure, because after a workout, I'm usually passed out! 

 

Seriously, the wife and I are doing different beachbody programs. I'll be starting the P90X next Monday.

I am 54 years old. I have been doing a fitness kick boxing class since I was 49. The class is Kung-Fu based, it combines cardio, strength and core building.

I was just wondering, does anyone here exercise on a regular basis?

I will be 70 years young next July and I have been doing something called TRX twice a week for the past three years. It is the only exercise program that I have been able to stick with because it is fun. It was initially developed for the military so that our soldiers could exercise without free weights or machines.

I do this at my local park district (we have no tanks at the park district). We turn up the music and have a lot of fun. All that is required is two nylon straps sold by TRX with a handle on on end. The other end is attached to a wall, ceiling, or a tank barrel. The straps do not stretch. You use your body weight as resistance. TRX provides resistance training, stretching and core muscle development. I now have full flexability and rotation of my joints, no muscle aches and a strong core.  Following are sample photos from the Internet.

I highly recommend this exercise program. I haven't felt this physically good in a long time. It is a lot of fun, you get good results and it makes you feel really good. Great for us seniors.
