I've resisted responding so far.

But.....

For the ones who like to say the Patriots are "cheaters", do you know the facts?

Look them up.

Spygate-Everyone was doing it, Belichick did it from a slightly different spot in the stadium and for 1 more game.

Deflated footballs? The reason Brady was suspended was he defied the clown, Goodell by destroying his personal phone rather than hand it over. A personal phone, not a NFL phone.

Deflated footballs? Has anyone heard of the ideal gas law? It's physics.

Every team pushes the rules. Period.

If the haters are sick and tierd of the Patriots winning, then BEAT THEM! The Giants did it twice and The Eagles did it last year. The bottom line is the reason the Patriots win is because Belichick is the master of football knowledge and Brady is the master at playing the game. For you haters, just hang on. At some point in the future Both Brady and Belichick will retire. Then those of us in New England will have to live with the memory of past glory.

Until then the Pats are STILL HERE and will DO THEIR JOB, with NO DAYS OFF.

;-)

Here‘s the facts I know. They are the only team to loose draft picks and be fined for cheating. That is their legacy whether warranted or not. End of story.

It took 86 years for my Red Sox to win the WS again. Now they just won their 4th in this century. The Pats were a joke until Kraft bought them and hired Belichick. Now they have been in 9 Super Bowls and won 6 of them.

I've been a Patriots (and Red Sox fan) since birth. Patritos have been in 11 Super Bowls and won 6 of them. They lost to Ditka's Bears in Super Bowl XX in Jan 1986 and to Farve's Packers in Super Bowl XXXI in Jan 1997.

Even before the Belichick-Brady era, having two losing Super Bowl appearances, both of which were to HoF level teams, is better than many teams that have never had a Super Bowl win, let alone a Super Bowl appearance.

The Patriots have more Super Bowl appearances than any other team (11) and are 6-5 in Super Bowls. Steelers (6-2) and Cowboys (5-3) are tied for second with 8 appearances each.

Blacksheep,

I agree. The kneeling deal did get me to leave the NFL, but I still watch the Patriots, I just won't watch any other NFL. I know I'm waffleing, but thats where I am.

I agree also, keep the politics out of sports, the rest of life is so infected with politics. Sports was the last refuge, but it seems thats diaspearing. Sad.

The Patriots are one of the teams in which the coach (whose dad was the Naval Academy's football coach back in the day) does not allow the players to kneel. Back when the controversy/protest first spread, a number of Patriots players knelt for a home game against the Texans. They were loudly booed by the home crowd. Afterwards, the team came to the decision not to kneel. Anyone who knows anything about the Patriots know this came from the head coach. He rules with an iron fist.

Most players likely knowing full well that BB would get rid of players who do not toe the line. He gets rid of superstars who cause distractions. Game hero one week, unemployed the next. Malcolm Butler, Randy Moss, and remember Jonas Gray's record setting game, only to be benched because he missed a team practice because of a snow storm? Players know he takes nobodies and turns them into MVPs and super bowl champions.

He is also against distractions and this form of protest is an unnecessary distraction to the team's advancing to the super bowl. To him, winning the next game is the most important thing, not some protest during the anthem.

Remember, the kneeling thing was the players, not the league, teams, coaches or owners. Even then, only some of the players.

As a matter of fact, look what happened to the man who started they whole thing. He's unemployed. None of the teams, coaches or owners want him whether it is due to his lack of skill set or the unwanted distraction he attracts.

Don't blame the league or the teams for the protests. They were trying their best to eliminate the protests without losing support of the players or the fans. Some teams were able to handle it better than others. The Patriots happen to be lucky that their future HoF coach was able to make this issue go away for his team. Getting to play for this organization is about as sure a shot to get into the Super Bowl as there is.

He probably tells his players, you want to protest, I'll trade you to a team that will allow you to do so. You want to win a championship, don't protest here.

I stopped watching/following NFL games since the Collin Keapernick debacle. Hell, I even stopped playing Fantasy football as well. What that idiot did by taking the knee during the National Athem is 100% WRONG even after other players started to follow suit. It’s a disrespect to the American flag and the United States. Now I have zero respect for NFL players of today.

Don’t get me wrong, everybody is entitled to opinion but keep politics out of sports!!! Politics and sports don’t belong together.

Mach 71 My teams the Mets and the Raiders have been so irrelevant lately, that to keep my interest I enjoy following excellence, hence my respect for the Pats. The last time I had animosity for the Pats was the tuck rule, but that was a long time ago,and we got revenge by spanking them the next year, but since then we have bern bad.So I enjoy them, and I love Bill's press confrences. As for the the Sox,well,my Mets got you in 86,but really there hasnt been a rivalry. On the other hand, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and I really dislike the the Yanks,so 2004 was great.Keep beating the Yanks please. And I have been a Celtic fan since 1972 But yes,it only sports, and this is just like a great barstool discussion,no hatred or animosity, just a sports debate which doesnt affect everyday life.

Tojo and Bugman.

This is why I Usually don't post on these type of threads.

Typing words, its hard to convey emotion.

1st, I'm not angry. Not a bit. I'm happy!

My City just won the World Series and the Super Bowl in the same season!

Times are great right now, They won't always be.

It took 86 years for my Red Sox to win the WS again. Now they just won their 4th in this century. The Pats were a joke until Kraft bought them and hired Belichick. Now they have been in 9 Super Bowls and won 6 of them.

Times are good right now in New England, they won't always be.

If others can't wrap their heads around the fact that the combination of a smart owner, the best coach ever, and the best QB ever will have great sucsess. Well go ahead, believe what you will. Let the hate flow through you, come to the dark side.

No animosity here, no negativity.

Your right.. Emotions don't show through in text.. I really could care less. I quit watching football when the game changed. People will believe what they want to believe, and we could debate this formanother 100 pages and it is always going to come back to a question no one has the answer to "Why"

They are a great football team.  Anyone that has played football knows that that the game is won by 3 second "wars" on the line.  Not sure how cheating enables a lineman to defeat a double team or a stunt or a spin move or a swim move or a blitz or a gap shift or submarining or a punch block or a pulling guard.  It's a physical game.  Beat me and I lose that 3 second battle.  A physically superior team on the line - both defense and offense - will win football games.

I'm not a Pats fan at all, but don't disparage the athletes that win the battles.?

We can argue all day of how little of an advantage they got. I totally agree with you, they are all top level athletes and this is game that's won by inches. This raises my main point.. If cheating really would not help them then Why Did They Cheat?? I'm fairly sure that Bellechick and everyone else knew what the repercussions would be if they got caught. We all agree that Bellechick is a great coach! If you think for a second that he did this for something that "Really Didn't Make A Difference" then you truly are niave.

I guess the biggest question is, if hypothetically if you played football and knew a team was cheating, would you want to play them?  If you played poker, and knew someone was cheating but only gained a slight advantage, would you still play for money

I get it, "All the world is against them", "We are all haters".. I get why you are defensive. You have every right to be angry, in fact you should be angry.. You are just aiming your anger in the wrong direction. We did nothing wrong. I don't need to tell you who is to blame, and I don't need to tell you what should have been done. If my team was caught cheating I would not watch them, go to their games, not support them in any way. They would not have had the chance to let me down twice

Lets hear who your blameless, impeccable, spotless, team who has not had one single allegation against a single player, coach, owner, univ president, athletic director, recruiter.Or did you stop rooting for all pro, college or amateur teams.

Well said, but no one is questioning if they are a great team. The biggest problem people have is "Once A Cheater, Always A Cheater" It does not matter what anyone says to defend it, they will always be cheaters. Do I think they are a great team? Absolutely! Do I think Tom Brady is a great QB? Absolutely. Do I think Belichick is a great coach? Absolutely. But why cheat? They went down a hole that they can never crawl out of. Unfortunatly people will never look past it. They broke the cardinal rule..

This year's Patriots team was not a great team. The year they went 16-0 and lost to the NY Giants, now that was a great team. They just got unlucky with a clutch play by Eli Manning and catch by Plaxico Burress. While the Giants won, they were hardly a great team and both the coach and QB were on the hot seat that season until the win.

Many fans think that the Rams did not deserve to be in the Super Bowl. The "no call" heard round the world, most likely would have ended their season and the Saints would have won the game. But, the Saints had the same opportunity to beat the Rams in overtime, but they threw an interception.

Bottom line is that one team shut down another during the Super Bowl making for a fairly mundane viewing.

It’s only a game guys. Purely for entertainment purposes of the masses. It does not change the fate of nations or peoples. In 10 years, let alone 100, no one will really care about what happened in the game, or the season.

Well thats because at this point, they are better then everyone else.

Does anyone else think that they are the only team who has played loose and fast with the rules,if so I got a bridge to sell you.

Too true, many of the dome teams, to include the one that started deflategate, were caught piping in fake crowd noise while the opposing team had the ball. Colts, Seahawks, Falcons, who I think got fined and lost a draft pick for it.

In the mid 2000s, some Dolphins players admitted that they were given audio tapes of Brady's signal calls so they knew what plays he was calling.

I went through decades of the Patriots losing, since they were playing in Fenway Park.

You simply don't win this long and perform at this level for so long,  by cheating.  The Patriots dynasty at this point is beyond any ability of cheating to have helped them, when looking at the dynasty as a whole.

For any mathematicians out there it's call the strong law of large numbers.

And anyone that would want to see any athlete injured, is a base level imbecile.

Anything can happen on any given day. But I say Pats in a rout. The rams won't beat Belichick, in what may well be his final game.

I'm a Vermonter, and remember when the name changed from the Boston Patriots to the New England Patriots. The joke used to go:

"Why'd they change the name?"

"To help spread the blame."

A good season was when we were not last in the AFC East. Before the current alignment, the AFC East consisted of the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, NY Jets, Baltimore/Indy Colts and the New England Patriots.

In the 70s, 80s and into the 90s, Dan Marino's Dolphins and OJ's then Jim Kelly's Bills ruled the AFC. The Jets had some good teams in the 80s too. Pats & Colts were easy wins on the schedule.

Then the Pats got Drew Bledsoe as the overall #1 pick and got Bill Parcells as HC in the 90s, getting to the Super Bowl in the 1996-97 season. Got beat by Favre and the Packers and the Big Tuna all but out the door to take over the Jets. Owners were trying to move the team to St. Louis, but ended up selling them to the current owner.

Colts got the overall #1 pick, Peyton Manning, in 1998 and Tony Dungy as HC. Fortunately, they moved to the newly created AFC South at the same time the Dolphins and Bills started to decline and the Patriots rise.

When Bledsoe went down early in the season and the 4th string QB stepped in, most of us thought all was lost. Then the guy goes on to win Super Bowl after Super Bowl.

This Super Bowl was won by the defense. A maligned defense coached up by Belichick held the #2 scoring offense to just 3 points.

The Rams defense was very good as well. The difference is the Patriots were able to sustain drives for minutes at a time and the Rams went three and out for literally 3 quarters. Their defense was tired, the Patriots changed their offense up and finally scored a touchdown.
