Website changes?

I'm very leery when a website goes through an "improvement." Let's hope its without hiccups.

We will all be hoping for the best regarding the changes.

This site works fine for me. They are supposed to be revamping Scale Auto too. I hope they do something about the spam over there.

As to the website, over the years, it has been treated by FSM like a 'red-headed step-child'. (No offense to red-headed step-childen). And I get it, their bread and butter is the print mag. But they have to see that the future of magazines is the internet. They really need to get their act together regarding how they handle this type of media. I mean, something as simple as being able to change your email address is not possible on this site. Oh, you can try to. There has always been an "edit" button next to your addy. It just has never worked!

 

My point exactly. They may fix whatever needs fixing but there’s always a good chance they’ll forget something else. It never fails. That’s why I have zero confidence in their supposed “upgrade” or “fix”.

OK, lets speculate/guess . Being computer iliterate and the one still using a flip phone, I don't see anything wrong with the forum. OK, the search function and spell check are but at the end of the day, I can live with it, we all have for years and their implementation hardly counts as "major".

What are you gentlemen guessing?

 

There have been other issues such as people not getting e-mail notifications. And my understanding is that the site does not work well with some devices. I don't have a smart phone or tablet so i am not really sure, but it does seem that different people have been having different issues on and off for a while.

I was elated to see that write up. Can't wait to see what improvements they make. If any downtime happens it's no biggie if the forum ends up much improved.

 

What improvements? They screwed it up the last time with folks getting locked out for days or weeks. I have zero confidence in their attempt to improve the site. I predict nothing but more trouble and aggravation ahead.

Okidoki then, here we go with the “new and improved version” that we all know will have a beehive of surprises.

Every time they upgrade it gets worse.

The very worst "upgrade" was in August 2015.

I've been participating in this forum for a long time. Why would I make up and post something that's so easily checked out?

From my read it appears that they realize the last effort was a patch, and that the new version to come will be real improvement. Like the rest of you, I certainly hope for the best. This forum is a really good place and any positive changes are welcome.

Read it too. Hope it isn't going to be to hard for all us computer illiterate old farts to understand and use.

Yes, I read it the other. It sounds like they are going to completely change the software since the version we're on now is a dinosaur and newer better versions are out there. Kinda like we a using cassette tapes while everyone else is using MP3. Just my opinion though.

I would cerainly like to see a spell check and a better search function. But...nobody asked.

Me too.

And the ability to see a list of a users past posts.

I am always a bit afraid of "big" changes when the users wer not asked what they would like to see. I am member of very influental sports forum and we all like that the owner always conducts a poll before changes are implemented and never takes an attitude that it is free so deal with it.
