It is with a very heavy heart that I must post the news of the passing of our dear dear friend, Larry "Buddy" Eugene Wolfe II, aka Lewbud. "Buddy", as we all knew him, passed away on January 30, 2021 at the age of 53. Buddy was one of the kindest individuals I've met. His smile and friendly demeanor were so genuine that he drew you in every time he would engage you in conversation. He, Modelcrazy and I saw the movie Midway together, shared dinners together, and met at the local model club to talk about the latest kits and of course, P-51's! His constant words of encouragement, praise, and affirmation will be missed.
I will miss you dearly my friend.
Chad

RIP indeed.
Never had the opportunity to meet him...my only dealings with him were in the forum here...but his good humor and generosity of spirit were evident. 53 is far too young!
He will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to his friends and family.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

The sadist part of growing older is the loosing of more friends and family.
This is sad news, indeed. Buddy ran the first GB I entered - his warmth and sense of humour were much in evidence. My condolences to his family and friends, I am sorry for your loss.

A heavy Heart Indeed;
He'll be misssed by a lot of us. And, Yes, 53 is to young. May he rest in peace and knowledge that he touched a lot of us.
Terrible news. His Weekend Madness GBs were a lot of fun, a brilliant idea.

Yes, actually I was thinking of carring on the tradition for at least one year and calling it "Lewbud's memorial Weekend Madness" but I don't know. They were a lot of fun and I entered every year for the past 7 years.

It was amazing how he got his large frame into one of those things. He had a giant British flag painted on the roof and this giant of a man driving. The first time I saw it, it gave me a laugh. He loved those cars.
Vaya con Dios Lewbud.
Nick.
Sincere condolences to friends and family.
Based on comments here and on his obituary page, sounds like a man who touched many lives in a very kind and positive way.

Sorry to hear-Lewbud ran good GB's with interesting topics. I especially looked forward to the Weekend Madness each year-always a good time-just picked up a kit this weekend for this years GB before seeing the posting here.
He will be missed.

Sad to hear, he was far too young.
Rest In Peace Lewbud
Oh gee friggin' whiz- thanks for letting us know Chad.
Rest in Peace Lewbud.
I can't say I knew him all that well but he always came off as a very nice smart guy. The forum will be the less for missing him.

Buddy was a great guy and a friend to all who knew him. The next IPMS-North Central Texas group build will be "P-51 Mustangs of the World" in Buddy's honor.
Buddy's passing at a relatively young age, however, should be a warning to all of us to better take care of our ourselves. Buddy was morbidly obese, a condition which doubtless caused other health issues and contributed to his early death. The last time I saw Buddy was over a year before his death, and it was obvious to me then he was not at all in good health.
Modelling is by its nature a solitary, sedentary activity, which makes it even more important that modelers take care of themselves and better manage their health, especially as we get older. Eat healthy and get regular exercise!
