Ok. So this is about other hobbies, then I won't mention gardening, or cooking. Cos they just have to be done, even if I enjoy them. I have an old 30ft wooden boat. Takes lots of work and money, but when I'm pushing her around the lakes, I feel like a king. Collecting militaria. I have an extensive collection of militaria and reference books. Drinking cider. I'm very fond of that.

In the A.F. it used to be photography, models, and target shooting (to keep qualified for my job).

Later I helped each fencing at the local college, models, and some photography.

Now photography so I can sometimes post photos here, models, and target shooting to keep in practice and maintain profencency.

I'll go along with little tittletimmy on this.  It has been 20 years with my wife, but she knew what she was getting.  HA!  Her ex-boy friend was a model bulder too.  Long story.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Well, most of my time is occupied with caring for my 22 yr. old special need son (Jarrod), but when time is available or when he can participate I like to play around with the following:

- gun collecting and shooting (Jarrod), looking forward to the Keltec P50 when it arrives.

- exercising at Planet Fitness, fitness walking (Jarrod).

- playing percussion equipment at home, events, and studio (Jarrod).

- motorcycling both one up and with sidecar (Jarrod).

- diecast collecting mostly 1:18.

- and of course scale modeling (sometimes Jarrod).

And yes, I am also retired for the last four years.

Gee friggin' whiz, you guys have healthy hobbies like cycling and fishing. Me, um well...

Lots of reading science fiction and to a lesser extent fantasy and horror. Vintage stuff, the newer stuff just bores me.

Computer games, just started a massive Soviet campaign in a wargame (I can't remember the friggin' name of the game right now!)

And movies, I love monster movies as you can probably tell from my callsign. Again I really don't like the modern stuff much but I love a good old '50s monster film. And I'm really getting into a lot of great Korean and Chinese films, their stuff is a lot more fun IMHO than the constant remakes Hollywood knocks out these days.

Honestly, politics and televised hockey.

If I can ask what car did you circuit the track in?  I've been to many F1 tracks but never drove one.

Suzuki Swift GTI.  It was an early Friday evening the day before I came back to the States.  Kind of cool to see all of the families setting up picnics on the hill-sides next to the track in Adenau.  Right after that, had a 105 mile drive back to Ramstein...but that goes pretty quick on the autobahn. Cool

My first, main and now only hobby since I started in 1946 was and is model building of all types and sizes. But, I enjoy classical music and use it in the  background when building models. Had quite a few various hobbies but had to quit them 1 by 1 due to health problems.

Oh man is that a 65 Pony???

Yes. 65 GT - regret selling it.  It was a real beauty, well optioned car with the Pony interior.

Thanks,

John

Beautiful bikes!  Love that styling from the 40s & 50s.  My other hobbies are riding my Kawaski Voygeur motorcycle, working out, reading, and relaxing with my family.  While I was teaching, modeling was the only hobby I could squeeze in my life but now that I'm retired I'm trying to "broaden my horizons".

Cigars.  Nothing like talking models over beers and Padron 64's.

Olivas are nice too.  I wish I had the income to smoke more Padron 64's.  My everyday cigar is the Arturo Fuente double chateau.

I like Olivas and a bottle of Jameson Black BarrelBig Smile

Camping, nature and aviation photography, flight simming in VR, restoring vintage military rifles, shooting, racing when I'm near a cool track (did Nurburgring in Germany), building computers.

Green hell as Jackie Stewart used to call it.  This is the longer 164 corners (or so) longer configuration?  Very cool.  If I can ask what car did you circuit the track in?  I've been to many F1 tracks but never drove one.

Very interesting diversity of hobbies from you guys. That is one way to stay busy specially for us retired older dudes.

Patrick

I try to keep them as they were intended, original and well taken care of.

stik

I have 3 more ten speeds and try to ride as much as I can. I try to make this a daily regimen but life gets in the way. My doctor wanted to put me on cholesterol medication 4 years ago till I said no sir, changed my eating habits and started cycling again. I went from a size 36 waist to a 34 and went from 187 lbs to 168lbs and I'm 65. Cycling is very healthy and fun soecially if one has good bike trails and good low traffic neiborhoods. Peddling these 57 lb bikes is quite a workout.

Hoo  Yah

Fireams and specially ammo prices are ridiculous. Miss those days where You could purchase at a gun show a nice Colt 1911A1 for $300. Can't afford the prices now.

Bill

Geez man your pictures just made me super hungry lol. The chicken looks yummy.

armornut

no, actually I have two more , woodworking and rc flying. Haven't done Rc for a while and currently I'm working on a wood project for the wife. And by the way, she pushed me to get that 1941 Columbia bike that I just got in last week.

Well;

My other Hobby( main one) is scientific research into old Building Sites.( Some would call it ArmChair Archealogy.) With one difference. I look at old ways things were fastened together other than Nails or Mortar!

I have discovered, with other colleagues That Humans and other creatures that share this planet with us have certainly devised some interestingly simple and certainly dramatic ways of fastening their structures together( This does NOT include Corals)

Did you know there are over forty species that use Spit ( YES Spit! ) to hold their dwellings together! One of those species build homes that may weigh as much as a couple of hundred of pounds when complete for the neighbors and themselves!

Computer gaming, really just one game the last 15 years, the World of Warcraft, all the expansions although the past two years I've been playing the classic version mainly.

I cycle almost every day, although I consider that more of my personal fitness regimen rather than a hobby. I love hiking near my new home, but I would put myself as more of a dabbler than a hobbyist. I love snorkeling, but only get to do that when on trips to locales that offer good diving areas, preferably tropical waters. I do like to collect militaria, so I suppose that is something of a hobby. My other activity that most qualifies as a hobby is one we're not supposed to talk about anymore here on FSM, and that is shooting: pistol, rifle, and shotgun. I did it before I was paid and trained to be proficient with those items, did so on my own time while being paid to use them as tools of the trades, and will do so now that I'm retired and there is a nice little area a few miles away out my back door. I'm looking at getting into kayaking on local waters once the last of setting up our new home has been taken care of.

Half owner of three mining claims, claims and outings director of the local chapter of a national prospecting association.  So out looking for the yellow stuff.

Used to love hunting for deer and upland bird.  Not able to get one out anymore, so had to give that up.

Do a little metal detecting as well.

Some real beauties there, Ernie. My favorite is the '55 Spitfire, just a perfect example of a classic bike of that era. Nice to see these old timers continuing on, and so well looked after.

My hobby besides models is photography and collecting cameras, mostly Rollieflexes and Leicas.

Thanks for the post and photos.
