Hang in there Armornut!  Use that sense of humor to get you through the rough spots.  Lifestyle changes to avoid the Big D is hard, as I have several friends who had to make the journey.

Get better - change your internet service, not your blood oil!

Back in '93, I was in the same position and they grafted the main artery and vein in my right wrist to get me ready for dialysis. In '94, My wife finally convinced me to let her give me a kidney as she had taken all the tests and was found to be a match. The operation went OK but 2 days later my body rejected it. Went back on dialysis for the next 4 years. Went every Tues., Thurs. and Sat. from 12 to 4. Got a cadaver in '98 and it's still going strong (Knocking on wood). Hershey MC had a record for a cadaver transplant patient hitting 20 years. In Nov. I'll be 25 years and the new record holder (again). Still went to Hawaii in '96. Stayed on Maui and got dialysis there. Had a blast. The people in the center were great and took all the pressure off being there.

Still have the graft and it is still working great. I chose to keep it after about 10 years in case anything goes wrong with the kidney and I have to go back on dialysis. If the kidney fails and I need dialysis I'm all set. If it's an emergency and the graft isn't there and ready they will have to go through the neck till a new graft can be ready. It's hard taking a shower with it there and it get's infected easily. I learned that from others at the dialysis center. Had to quit bowling, tennis and a few other things because it could cause a shock to the graft which would cause a blood clot and that is serious trouble.

Hang in there. You need help, just holler.

Stay Safe.

It brings me great joy that everybody cares in their own way. I hope never to sound like I am begging for attention as that is not my intent.

You folks here are a big part of my life, you keep me motivated to stick with the hobby, support for personal stuff that probably should be taken elsewhere, yet you guys step up....humbling to say the least.

Fox your experience and first hand account is truly inspiring, I want to continue to roll on strong as if it "doesn't kill ya...." THANK YOU and I believe the PM function now works so perhaps I will reach out on a more private channel. THANK YOU!!

If it was possible I would be honored to gather up you guys and buy y'all lunch.

Always happy to hear news from the guys here; the good or unfortunately the bad whatever life brings, pleased to see you upbeat and positive Amornut. I'm very fond of the atmosphere that has been created here on this forum a social element along with a common interest for those that want it. I’ve mentioned before that the nearest modelling club to me is two and half hours away on country roads. So here to me is my club ‘walking in’ and catching up with the regulars hearing what they have to say on a personal level and seeing what has been built is something I look forward to every time I sign on.

Hey Cobber, I've just caught up with this, please accept my apologies, I've been a bit self focused lately. Keeping my fingers crossed for your surgery and looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the mob one day. This community has been so important to me and obviously is to others as well. Thinking of you mate.

When I have a steak....will I be considered a cannibalHuh????   Or perhaps they are forcing me to be vegitarian???

God willing check you guys on the other side of this.

Good luck Armornut!  We'll hold a space at the table for you until your return.

Maybe we can do a cow-themed group build afterwards!  Stick out tongue  Hmmmm... not too many planes or tanks with bovine monikers.  Bison?  Buffalo?  B-26 Moorauder?  XP-67 Moo-nbat?  Cow-asaki Ki-61?

Hey, at least I got it in BEFORE you have stitches!  You're welcome.

GOOD NEWS!!! I WON'T BE  A CANNABAL!! According to the doc the graph does not contain live cells to tranfer. WHEW bring on the Ribeye. Unfortunatly I will still be contributing to thr global methane problem. Wife couldn't convince doc to add some stitches LOL.

NOT done with this medical adventure yet but hopfully this chapter is over. Thanks guys.

Good news.

Thought it would be udderly ridiculous for the the doctor would steer you wrong knowing what was at steak but maybe you can milk it for a while.

Glad you're back to chew the fat with us.  Good sport for taking all the ribbing.   Glad you don't have to become a vegitarian... that would have been a missed steak.

Thanks,

John

Don't ask me, I just started sticking 'U's back in words. I dunno why, it's just a quirk.

I still spell center like this even if I spell metre that way.

Why, I dunno. I never claimed to be consistant...

Well folks it has happened....my kidneys tanked. I had been feeling like  garbage for about 3 weeks, very low energy, cramps, all around bad attitude, you know...me on a Tuesday. So I get labs drawn for a scheduled appointment and BOOM a day later I'm in the hospital getting prepped for emergancy dialysis. My fustula did not develop as they had hope and we were hoping things would stay stable, no such luck.

Dotors placed a tunnel catherter to facilitate dialysis...honestly the IV, porceedure, and lab draws are worse than actual dialysis. With any luck I will be going home today, getting my oil changed as we speak..

Plan is to go to Texas, duck out for a few hours early morning a couple days, and simply enjoy the convention.

As always thanks for reading and I'll try to post more downnthe road.
