Sick Call
Posted by Dodgy on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 9:29 PM

For those of you who may not be aware, our mate Armournut is crook. I contacted him this morning because I have not seen any posts from him for a while. Armournut has been suffering some serious kidney issues and will shortly begin a dialysis regime. I'm sure I speak for everyone in wishing him good health and a speedy recovery. Take care old mate.

Thanks Dodgy. I know where he's at. I've had two kidney transplants and combined 5 years of Dialysis. When you get in touch with him again, tell him if he needs someone to talk to let me know.

Thank you all, it means alot. I know I'm not the first to have medical issues however this is the first for me and having support from peers makes things alittle less overwhelming.  Ferg has my number and e-mail as does a few other members. IF the PM function works I will share more prive contact info there. Thank you again to everybody here, I really do appreciate it.

I can completely relate to your predicament.  My kidneys started failing back in 2018.  I've been doing dialysis regularly since May of 2020 and have been doing home hemo since November of 2020.  Take it slow, take your time recovering from your dialysis sessions, and listen to your doctors.  Here's hoping this is an acute problem and you'll quickly recover and get back to normal.

SB33, thanks for the first hand insight, my docs are a bit "vauge" about what to expect. I will need a transplant for sure. I believe I will be on the list very soon since my fistula has been created, one week ago tomorrow, I have PKD, PolyCystic Kidney Disease, gentic and only "cure" is a transplant.

Fox I tried the PM here but that function is still inop. I do appreciate the offer of support and maybe we can find a way to connect. Thank you again all for your support and kind words.

Hello everyone, I feel alittle odd by resurrecting a thread about me however maybe some are curuios as to my current condition.

Obviously I am still lurking about, giving input where I think it will help. My kidney function is currently holding just above the threshold for dialysis...scary proposition since I'm not fond of needles. While these forums are not the venue for medical, mental, or spiritual discussions the fact that the members here take a few seconds to think about me helps me to navigate in a world I'm ill prepared for, for that I am greatful. By some chance with the interactions I share with you who choose to reply I can come to grips with the AWESOME gift of life that someone elses sacrifice will provide then you have done your part in making thus world a better place to be.

Thank you for your contiued silent thoughts and prayers. As odd as it sounds these forums are almost literally my world. Thank you again.

Now that I have snivvled and whined lets get back to the bench and build SOMETHINGBig Smile

Life has funny way of resetting our priorities. Modeling is nice, but life and loved ones is the end all be all. Chin up and enjoy what you have while you have it, nothing else really matters.

No Armornut, the forums ARE a place where we can get solace and encouragement from our peers.  Don't sweat it.  Take care of yourself and do your best to get back to condition "green".  Or at least maintain "yellow" so you don't have to resort to needles.  I share your aversion to sharp, pointy things going into me.  Take care dude!

I have a question about the original post.  Could you explain the use of the word crook?

ikar01

I have a question about the original post.  Could you explain the use of the word crook?

Meaning of 'Crook'

Crook

noun

Sick (feeling crook). Also, injured (crook back), bad (crook attitude), difficult (crook footy season).

Example of 'Crook'

I felt a bit crook today.

Hang in there mate, I'm sure things will get better and I totally agree with Real G, we may live far apart and only communicate via this website, but we are a community with all the connections that implies.

Ikar01, I apologize. 'crook' is a common Australianisim. My user name 'Dodgy', actually means untrustworthy, or something is not right - it's a risk, it's dodgy. Sorry, it's just my sense of humour.

Dodgy.

Zombie thread from the zombie guy LOL. Well folks, still hovering just above the threshold for dialysis...one bad test and it's oil changes every other day...my fistula has not developed as planned had an angioplast that didn't do what the doc wanted. Surgery again yesterday to see if another angioplast would do the trick. No such luck, I will be under the knife again in a couple weeks to have part of a cow artery graphed in place of my skinny vein. MOOO, mooo,  just practicing LOL.

Thanks for reading and if you wish continued support from afar. It is extremeky appreciated.

On a side bar....I need faster internet service at home to post pix, that said as soon as I can nake that hapoen everything else is in que to show off my stuff.

Everyone here ia amazing truely a motley community that I'am proud to be part of. Happy modelling folks.

Great to hear from you!

Best of luck with the coming procedure -- I'll save the myriad of bovine jokes and puns that occurred to me till after -- but we're all pulling for you and keeping you in our thoughts!

Cheers

I recall something read as a youngster, a character called the "artful dodger" was in the story. Perhaps that relates to the Dodgy term.

Anyway, Armornut, I'm sorry to read of your illness and wish you all the very best in finding a way to get by, without the parade of needles. Your attitude seems positive, that's a real part of participating in recovery.

I hope you'll keep us up to date on how it's going. Be well, buddy.
