Actually, that's pretty good advice ALL OF THE TIME!

And if she does get around to asking about you, don't say you build models, say you craft scale reproductions.

  You should let her do the most the talking if you can. Try not to talk about model building to much. Believe it or not, not to many chicks are into model building! Most could care less about your latest build or how many kits you have in your closet. They may even feel its kind of nerdy. So focus on her. Chicks love the attention. Just ask my wife, who I let do all the talking 20 years ago.

First date, eh? Congrats.

I'd say do more question asking than talking about yourself. I did that on a blind date with a beautiful little lady back in November of '85.

August 12th was our 19th wedding anniversary.

Seriously though, most people enjoy the company of someone who is interested in them. Don't NOT talk about your stuff, but put them first.
