I am in CA but I am a Flyers fan and Cheesesteaks are my favorite.

We have a chain of shops here called, "The Philly Cheesesteak Shop" and they are delicious!

They use Amoroso's rolls from Philly and they claim they are authentic. I know the "authentic" way in Philly to eat them is with Cheese Whiz on them but that sounds gross to me.

The shops here use white American cheese and I love em! My favorite food.

That's cool MikeV, at lest you can get something of Philly...... But you also have to have Tastykake's http://www.tastykake.com/ and Philly Pretzel's.

see, the way I know it, a 'cheezewit' is a cheesesteak with the spray cheese. Cheese steak is the real cheese kind.
What I cant stand is when resturats sell cheesesteaks and there that like, london broil steak crap

and I was JUST about to get up and get a tasteykake when you mentioned them!

Hi Bud,

The best meal is a Cheesesteak followed by a tastykake French Apple Pie warmed up and then topped off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yyyyyuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm.

I went downstairs for dinner, and it turns out my dad decided in his infinite genious to make cheese steaks. So cheese steaks and tasteykakes for me today!

You don't realize how much you miss a good Steak Sandwich or Hoagie until you move away from the Philly area. When you go into a place and ask for a cheesesteak with sauce and onions, they look at you like you've got three heads or something. I'm with MikeV, a cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz on it sounds truly vile!

So tell me guys, is what I said true?

Is Cheese Whiz on a cheesesteak the traditional way to eat them in Philly?

I saw a Food Network show once (I think it was Throwdown with Bobby Flay) and they had a guy from Philly making them and he said what I posted above about Cheese Whiz being the way people expect them in Philly.

I couldn't eat one that way.
