I don't even know where I came across it, but I recently saw some 1/2 scale pistol kits somewhere. You know, just to add to the mayhem!

I build quiet a few of the LS gun kits, miss those.

They came out looking pretty good and IIRC some of the modern ones had a metal bar to give them some weight.

back in the corps i picked up a 1/1 scale m16 while in japan, and put in my barracks room,,,,, man what a stink that was.  it got broken by a newby doing the manual of arms..... that was soooooo many years ago i dont remember who did it    pyro ??   shouda, wouda, couda ,,, didnt .... my loss except for the memories, and the butt chewing from my n.c.o.i.c.   aaaa those were the days .....

Got my first real gun when I was 8 so never had the need for plastic models.  It was a thumbfire .22 Winchester single shot.  Sold it when I was 14 and have been rueing the day ever since...................

Having said that those 1/1 models DO look pretty good.

Well...they were created for folks whose government doesn't trust 'em with real guns.

Even if someone owns real guns, the kits that chambered replica cartridges can teach how the gun actions were assembled. Useful to have when reading about how a firearm design functions.

Had a few different kits of the 1/1 firearms. I still have a PYRO kit# G194-500 Bavarian Wheellock that is 4'4" long still in the box.  I remember that they all needed a fair amount of work to make them come out looking good.

PYRO made antique firearms kits ; the most modern was a Colt SAA.

Lindberg re-released ( maybe 2 years ago ) a set of four 18th and 17th century gun kits.

Revell released a kit of the Colt 1860 black powder pistol in the 1980s  just prior to the ban on sale of realistic toy guns legislation....

LS made the most numerous kits

( I'd like to say 229   but can't be certain )

as they were made for the Japanese market which forbids gun ownership.

I saw a WIP AR-15 kit one time at a local IPMS meeting.

The built up kit appeared to be half Squadron Green Putty due to sink marks..

I believe that at least one of the manufacturers you're thinking of was LS (Japanese). They used to do a huge range of 1:1 scale gun kits.

No, I don't remember who made them.  My brain cells have been eat up by the smell of jet exhaust and JP-4. 

Like this.  It has been redone and aged a bit but is a 1/1 scale plastic kit from the early 60's.  The reason they can not be sold again is they look so much like a real gun.  Fake guns sold now has to have a bright red or orange tip on the barrel.  Something about a young kid getting shot and killed by a policemen when a toy gun was pointed at him. 

I've seen ads over on Armorama for a site that sells them. I can't remember the name of the vendor but they are still out there somewhere. Maybe a Google search?
