ANZAC GB 2011

It will be any subject past and present (including sports) as long as it is from Australia or New Zealand... So if you wanted to do one of the Kiwi or Aussie aces serving in the RAF during  the Battle of Britain then thats just fine....

Cross overs and partial starts are fine...

Start Date 25/04/2011

Finish Date 11/11/2011 at 11am..est

I've got a sh**load of Aussie stuff in the stash (F18, F111, Mirage, C-117, B24, B25, Beaufighter) But just too much to do.  I'm knee deep in a big dio at the moment,  I've just signed up for the "Too mahy props" GB which also starts in April.  Hope you get some more starters.

I'll try to get into this, I like the less common themed GBs. I've got an Airfix CA-13 Boomarang, and a couple of P-40 kits flown by ANZAC pilots, probably a few other possibilities.

If your interested http://www.venturapublications.com/store/index.php?main_page=products_new has alot of RNZAF decals. They also publish some rare decal sheets (XP-51 markings, captured american BF-109 markings etc) They come in 32, 48 and 72 scale. They post internationally. Quite cheap for you american boys lol.

Yeah, kiwis typically dont give a crap about appearances lol. As long as it was in perfect flying condition it was good to go.

Found a good photo, and an awesome website for people doing RNZAF corsairs.

Note how battered she looks.

http://www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/No_21_Squadron.html

Lots of photos of 21 squadron.

Note they all have the same "splash" pattern along the rear of the engine cowl  just forward of the cockpit.

Also note the damaged tail. Testament to our low flyers and how low they got.  (this could also be flak damage, looks more like a tree strike though)

Also heard a story of a young kiwi pilot who got a little tiddly the night before a mission, woke up still drunk. He decided to stop drinking when he felt a thump while banking, looked over and saw grass hanging from the wingtip.

If you decide to do a specific aircraft, let me know and ill head down to wigram (national airforce museum) and go through their records for any info i can find for you.

Mikey, awesome site mate thanks for posting itYes i think i like the one in the pic you posted, it's battered appearance and RNZAF markings sets it off....Is that a yellow nose and is the scheme an overall Blue gray upper with a nuetral grey under??? hard to tell from the pic....

I've also made an early start on first build, with 3 planned for this i figured a head start might be a good idea...

I've cut all the engine panels off the Hasegawa 1/48 Mustang in preperation for the Verlinden set and also finished the office...it has a zoom set in it and the seat is resin from True Details

I believe it was the later overall glossy sea blue scheme. Cant confirm the nose colour but from what i can find the only nose colour on RNZAF corsairs was yellow. Interestingly though the only references i can find all say it was a narrow band around the front of the cowl, not the whole cowling.
