Yeah all the pics i've found online show the narrow band around the front of the cowl... i'm not a huge fan of overall gloss sea blue so i'm going to go with the tri scheme i reckon....trying to decide whether or not to superdeatail the engine with an Aires set...

ive been told (and discovered) aires translates to doesnt fit. if the kit has a decent engine then stick with the kit engine. the tricolor scheme looks fantastic on corsairs.

I think your right about the kit engine, i reckon i'll just open up a couple of panels and wire up the kit engine....I will order a zoom set for the office, my fine detail painting can't compete with the instrument panels from Eduard...

Same thing happened to me, well sort of...My garage is  lower than the house and it ended up with a foot of water in it during the Jan rains, a few of my kits lost their decals and instruction sheets, i pulled out my Airfix 1/48 seafire fr47 to clean the sprues and promptly lost the clear parts...I ordered some Falcon vac canopys from a hobby shop in Wellington and took the opportunity to order the Ventura decals for the Corsair at the same time....

Maybe you could add a clear rod to the underside of your Bearcat and have it as an in flight display...

Not hearing much on the news here anymore, hows Christchurch looking??

yeah i might do that, just means ive now got 2 spare 48 scale resin wheels. oh well. Sucks about the floods man, how are you guys recovering? once the rain stopped so did the news about it.

As for us, were doing ok. Sewerage treatment plant is screwed. so when its blowing an easterly everything smells of decomposing poo and salt. unfortunatly at this time of year most evenings are easterlies. were getting there though. went up to the cordon the other day, man its eerie. Ill upload a couple videos when i can.

I should get to work on my mustang. im gonna use foil for it. Youd think i learned my lesson last time eh? ill just be more patiant and use smaller sheets this time i think.

Would someone mind explaining "group Builds" a little more? I am assuming its where every one builds to a theme ("ANZAC") and shows off the finished article? Is there any restrictions/requirements/other rules I need to be aware off?

If so I wouldn't mind having a go, a good way to get some feedback on what I am building, which will most likely be the Accurate Miniatures Avenger straight out of the box.

Please remember everybody was a newbie once....

All good bro. A group build is as you say a group of people building to a theme. This one were building Anzac equipment. So RNZAF or RAAF aircraft. etc etc. Usually you show WIP (work in progress) shots too so we can see how your getting on, but im terrible at this.

Its a good way to put a deadline to a build. Which im in desperate need of lol.

Is it too late to enter? this will be my first attempt at a group build, my first attempt at WIP reports etc, my first "Kiwi" model and my first accurate miniatures model. I am still tossing up on buying the verlinden super detail set to go with My TBF1C Avenger, but either way am looking forward to the build process.

Anyway if possible I would like to enter? take part? with the Avenger build.

Cheers

My toyworld modelnerd is a warhammer guy. we have some interesting conversations.

Im quite lucky in that ive got 2 proper hobby shops with like 5 modelnerds in each.

Yes the modelnerds are good value, but in our own way wer'e all modelnerdsPropeller

Mikey, getting back to our earlier conversation the recovery here seems to be going well, most of the public places have been cleaned up and reopened...Sadly it's brought out the goldiggers, many peoples insurance policys were not worth the paper they were printed on and insurance companys are refusing to pay up citing loopholes between riverine flooding and storm flooding.., goldigging Censored... people are living in unrepaired houses and rents have gone up because of demand caused by the flooding...It seems wer'e here just to make the filthy rich richer and they don't even try to hide it anymore like they used to...end rant....

My progress so far...

The kit (also using workable link tracks).

The first armor I've found that didnt have a pre-made hull, all assembled from seperate parts.

Shot of the back

hull ready for deck

Turret isnt glued in position yet  (top, bottom or gun/mantlet) just sitting there.

The manual is about 90% Japanese but other than that its about the easiest kit I've ever done, even beats Tamiya hands down. A true shake and bake.
