I half-expected, given the thread-title, to see you guys pushin' brooms around and stacking tables..

That occured right after the group photo was taken...

I was there and it was a remarkable show. I regret missing out on you guys but maybe we'll get together next year. I may have been standing next to any one of you at any time and never knew it.
All the work was remarkable! A/c being my primary area of interest that's where I spent most of my time and ofcourse I took a bunch of pics. Fermis' work is remarkable and it was a pleasure to finally see some of it with my own eyes.

But there is always AMPS show in Auburn, Indiana next month.  Anybody going?  I am!

I'll pass on that one too.. I don't travel outta state anymore for contests, gas is just too ridiculous... Haven't been farther away from home than 50 miles in three or so years (not counting trips to the Doc in Iowa City.. HAD to make those trips to be able to walk again, or I wouldn't have gone there, either..)...  If I had to go out there, or farther, I wouldn't have any cash for the vendor tables, lol..

But if they do one in Des Moines...

Guys- Thanks again for the comments! Beer  Too bad we only do this once a year.  But there is always AMPS show in Auburn, Indiana next month.  Anybody going?  I am!

Manny- Again thanks for nice words.  Yes I remember how much you liked it back at Armor forum.  I can't believe you don't know Roscoe Turner!  Why?  He was a flamboyant just like you... Wink

Fermis- Your wife hates it?  But my wife loved it. Embarrassed  She thought you were cute... LOL

John- I have to disagree... your T-34 should have brought home an award EASILY!  I still don't understand how judging works.  Fortunately somebody took a good picture and posted it on Cybermodeler site Stik listed recently.  I really hope my whitewash attempt comes as good as yours!

Here's John T-34...

Stikpusher- I am so glad you posted the link... thanks!!! Beer  Was happy to see two pictures of my Huey listed.

Eric- You are way too nice!  Like I said earlier building that Huey threw off my GB schedule that I couldn't start mine for your BITW GB.  I still OWE you one... maybe Big Cats GB in the fall, isn't it overdue? Devil

Congrats guys. Way to represent the forum.

Andy, the competition must have been fierce. 3rd is still great, but I was in awe of your WIP on it.

Thanks guys, and it was a great pleasure to meet you all. I was a bit "out of sorts"....having a couple few cocktails and only three hours sleep! After leaving, I realized that I never really LOOKED at anything, just passing glances......did PLENTY of laps around the vendor room though!!!

It was really great meeting up with Rick, Andy and Fermis. Me, I struck out but there is always next year. I thought Andy's armor should have gotten more awards. His Pz IV H is truly nice work and the pictures don't do it justice. It should have scored higher. Fermis's Barracuda is really something to see up close, amazing!

The vendor area seemed to be a little off compared to past years. As I recall about the Alfred Kurzmaul Tiger we got Andy was the one doing the arm twisting. 45 bucks is hard to pass up though.

Guys- THANKS! Beer No way I can bring home something without your help here at FSM!  I am not kidding...

It is ALWAYS great seeing FSM friends at the show.  It has become a tradition at Roscoe Turner because we had FUN and hope we will see more faces next year.

Rick- Thank you for the thread! Beer  Here's the 1/35 Huey I built for my friend's 50th birthday.  His wife paid for everything. Big Smile  He flew Huey UH-1H for 14 years when he was in the Army.

Below is better picture because the lighting was not great at the school gym where the show was.

I was happy to bring home something for my Panzer IV Ausf H. Not the Bison Rick has stated earlier.  Can't blame Rick because all armors are just targets to him because he is into wingy things. Stick out tongue

It was one of oldest Tamiya kits from the 70's if you remember with Zimm putty and a lot of improvements.

Of course the best part of the show was the vendors in other gym despite being smaller than last year.

Look what John (ogrejohn) made me buy... a CyberHobby Tiger kit for only $45.  Do we smell Big Cats GB coming up?

We met another guy Steve who frequents at other forum but I am working to get him come to FSM and join my Panzer III & Its Variants GB... Whistling

I have to say something about Fermis and John.... their builds were AWESOME!  John's T-34 with winter camo using hairspray technique was one of my favorites.  Fermis built 39 planes last year but they were just GREAT.  Hope he had enough room in his truck for the awards for his trip back home.  When I saw his Chinook helicopter sitting next to my Huey I knew right away no way I can bring home something better.  Outstanding work Fermis!

Great job, all excellent builds! Nice to see a face instead of just a forum moniker.

Forum Regulars Fermis and Deafpanzer hauled home the hardware at the Winter Model Contest sponsored by the Roscoe Turner Chapter of the IPMS in Indianapolis.

Deafpanzer captured 3rds in respective categories for his 1/24 Huey and 1/35 Bison.  I didn't get a photo of the Huey, but do have one of the armor.  He had several of his beautifully done armor pieces there and hit paydirt twice. This was Andy's first contest, so he was kind of happy to place in the money.

Fermis made his way out of the frozen northlands of Michigan and sort of stole the aircraft division of the show.  That should be no surprise to anyone here.  If I'm not mistaken, he took home four first places.  1. with his 1/72 Thunderbolt. 2. with the 1/32 A-10

3 with the CH-46

and 4 with that Beautiful Barracuda, which also happened to garner The Best in Show-Aircraft.

Photos do not do justice to Fermis' work.  To see them in person was a treat and he deserves the praise he gets. Here's a look at his winners:

Indianapolis put on a great show.  Several hundred entries, a great vendor room.  It was a great day to get back and see old Friends and get to meet in person another friend from the Forum.  I hope we got to see all of the Forum members who were there.  If not we will try to put out a better effort to locate everyone next year. One last photo of the four best looking modelers at the show.  L-R OgreJohn, Fermis, Deafpanzer, and Wabashwheels.
