Yes, this got brought up in another thread.

It's sad, Greatmodelshas always been good to me. They are close and I got my orders timely. Recently, I purchased a few orders from Spruebrothers and was blown away by the prices and service. As long as they remember their roots, they will continue to receive my business.

Gonna miss Great Models.

They're far further away from Chicago area than Sprue Brothers but shipped quicker.

Dunno why Missouri takes twice as long to ship.

Well, I have a couple of things to say about this:

1) Sprue Bros has become my supplier of choice over the past couple of years, replacing Great Models...It is the ONLY online model supplier I have ever used where feel comfortable enough to buy electronically and not worry about dealing with a live person...they are the fastest in getting my stuff to the front door...

2) I see three major players in the online modeling market: Sprue Bros, Great Models and Squadron...in that order, IMO.  Taking out the second best leaves Sprue Bros and Squadron, a company I feel has been in decline for awhile.  I fear that Squadron will be bought or go under in the next few years.  All of this means one thing:  a lot less competition for Sprue Bros.  And we all know what that could mean...

I've always used Sprue Bros and Squadron. Great service and very fast delievery. Plus Sprue Bros carry Steel Beach Accessories which I use a lot.

Squadron isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I live in Washington state and it took me 3 days to get my order from Sprubrothers and about 5 days to get it from Greatmodels in Utah which is much closer. Five days is nice, but getting it in three is even sweeter.

I never understood eveybody's love affair with Squadron, their search engine sucks, and their prices are always higher then then just about anybody.I like flipping thru their flyer but I can't remember the last time I bought anything from them.

Back in the day when they were the "Player", mid 70's, my friend and I ordered all the time from them, because of their then good deals, and we really didn't have a good hobby shop. That all changed when we finally got a hobby shop dedicated to all types of military models. Now sadly, they are about half gaming and cards.

What, this subject hasn't been hashed out enough in recent months? We gotta bring it up AGAIN? OK, awesome. Another thread bites the dust....

Well considering that last post was made almost 24 hours ago...no, it wasn't really an issue that was gonna kill the thread until you just now decided to egg it on...

Though Hannants is my online shop of first choice, i have brought from Sprue Brothers a few times and have had great service. I have never checked out the Great Models site, so i am not sure what the difference was. Whether it was just the price or the range of products. But it is sad to see another company go down, less compation is not good for the customers.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

No love affair here. I agree with you. Ever since I found Sprue Bros, I don't order from anywhere else.

I've never had a problem with Squadron's search engine but that may be because I always knew what I was looking for anytime I went there.  I agree their prices are a bit high compared to other stores.  I go there once in a while but do the bulk of my online shopping with Spruebrothers and ebay.

I live in Austin. 3.5 hours by car from Squadron. Sprue Bros. pretty reliably reaches me in 2-3 days. Great Models 3-4. Squadron has taken as long as 12 and is regularly beaten by Ultracast (Canada) and Hannants (UK).

That's one of the things I like about SB...they don't screw around with getting your order assembled and out the door. I once received a shipping notice - with tracking number - eight minutes after placing an order. I also appreciate invoices not printed out on a dot matrix...

I'm not an AmEx user Dre, but make sure to let them know that you are. If they get enough feedback, that may change. Sprue Bros is one of the very few spots I order from online so it really doesn't affect me (yet?), but at the same time I hate to see a competitor get swallowed up.

Well, for those of you who might be interested, Great Models is having a 40% off sale for most of their inventory. It will end at some undisclosed time when whatever is left is transferred to SprueBros...
