I hear ya Don. A friend and I just had this discussion about the most we've ever spent on a kit the other day and I dont think I have spent over 55 on one. Now aftermarket upgrade sets, lets just not even go there.

The Trumpeter Fw-200C-3. Fifty bucks is just a little bit out of my price range at the moment.

has that been released yet. I have the Revell C-8 but really want a decent early C and have been waiting on the Trump kit.

Mine is a 32nd He 219. I am still in two minds about forking out for the ZM kit or going for the Revell. But the more reviews I read, the more I am tempted to go for the revell.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I ummed and aahed over the Airfix 1/24 Mosquito when it was in the LHS.  $240 just seemed a lot, even though it is a lot of model kit.  OOP now and my LHS guy tells me I have missed the boat.  It would have been a big investment, but I wish now I had taken the plunge.

Don't lose heart.
If any swap meets occur in you area, you may yet pick up a kit for a more reasonable price.
.
Be aware, though, you may need to wait ten or more years for the owner to reduce the number of kits in his stash.
.
By being patient, I've picked up three of the AIRFIX 1/24 scale kits - older ones without box or decals, mind you- but the prices were early 1970s prices and AIRFIX decals for those kits weren't very good anyway.Crying
Thankfully, some after market decals are still available - even for the 1/24 Mosquito.

Holding off on buying one of the Bronco jeeps. Make up my mind which one and they put a new one out.

The 37mm A/T gun one  leads right now, mostly for the gun.

I recently graduated and I've been doing small jobs here and there, so the only things keeping me from buying the following are price AND lack of a steady job.

- Testors 1/4 visible Hemi engine

- Mato Toys 1/16 Full Metal Stug III

- ...Revell 1/4 Slant Six engine XD

...yeah

I had my eye on the Revell 1/48 A-26C Invader for quite a while. Took a look on eBay and found one that was actually local! Made an offer and I was able to snag it for a cool $20. Yeah, man!

For a while mine was the Meng A39 Tortoise. Such a crazy looking tank, basically the steel version of an English Mastiff: Slow, big and ugly, but hard as nails and with a bite that shatters small buildings. I loved the model, but it was too expensive for my tastes. A few weeks back I went to a model show and saw some on sale for around 50 Euros, which is relatively cheap. My modelling buddy told me to get it, but I resisted. Then we ran into a small stack going for 32... Thank you!

So now I'm building one.

However, there is one kit that I wanted to build for a looooooooong time, but never did because of cost issues: The Tamiya USS Enterprise in 1/350.

I agree. This is my main motivation for attending local shows/contests. The vendor pricing and rare stuff that you can find is just great. Of course, bringing home a medal is good too....

Two come to mind, both Zvezda, both ships, the Crusaders era Cog model, and the Black Swann (Pearl)

The Zvezda "Dreadnought" 1/350 would also be nice as would a PL 1/350 Starship Enterprise, all on hold as I'd have to build an addition to the house to display them.

Well today I finally bought the one I had been holding back on. Revell's 1/48 Apollo Lunar Spacecraft. The LHS had a Black Friday event going. 25% off on Revell kits plus I added $10 worth of "rewards points" so the kit I have been oogling since I was a young boy and a friend of mine had one is finally mine for $27 plus tax. Doom on you to the ebay gougers who had the market on this kit cornered for so long until Revell finally re issued this classic.

As a diagnosed Shermanoholic, I had exactly zero resitance to the Tasca Firefly when it came out. Now that you have one, Jester, on a scale of one to ten, would you give the model a twelve or eleven? ;-)
