Ye, he has been gone for quite some time. But I do think he posted early this year. He was building up to running the Longest day GB. But in his absence and no one being able to get hold of him, I took it on. I believe it was mentioned he was having issues with the internet, but that was over 6 months ago.

This is a good question. He was a great guy from the dealings I had with him and have made mention about this with a few others here. Wished he'd come back with all of his jokes and "I aint ever spending xxxx amount of money for a kit like that!!!" lol . Really though...he's missed.

Indeed HvH is missed.

I can't help wonder if he is in a Government sponsored protection program because he was always defending old Revelogram kits..........Hmm

Maybe he ended up on the Tamiyagawa Yakuza hit list.

I know he's had some health problem in the past that's kept him fairly immobile so I hope he's ok. He's a great guy, lots of funny banter and an encyclopedia of all things CAF and Monogram.

Yeah, all joking aside Hans was a good guy. Didn't always agree with him but I often learned something from what he had to say.

Hans was definitely instrumental in convincing me to return to practicing the art of "gizmology" .

Wasn't there some sort of weather related mishap in his area about the time he dropped off the face of the earth?

Yes, I think there was some flooding where he was.

He was a sort of "mentor" to me and because of that , his sense of humor and overall helpfulness I miss him as well.

Well, some chick, I think her name's Simone, in my Economics class said: Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Hans von Hammer pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. Whistling

LOL @ pyrman

I just assumed, wrongly it seems (assumption being the mother of all F'ups) that he, "disappeared" at about the same time as some other former members that I have not seen since I resurfaced here. Though I must admit Hans was always much milder, wiser and no where near as "out spoken".

The "Hammer", a fellow Hawkeye (although a transplant from Texas) has been AWOL for a while now.  Not sure why he decided to check out for good but he was tired of all the drama (as many of us were).  Who knows, perhaps he will return for MM3!

His last post was in jan, a couple of months after all that happened. Though he had not been posting as much in the previous couple of months.

I have read some of his posts and they were great!  Anyone who loves Monogram is a friend of mine!  Would love to see him back.

Start a Monogram group build with the stipulation that you can't use ANY aftermarket parts and I predict he'll come screaming back!

The guys who really needed to get the boot did.  The forums are better off.  Like you said Hans wasn't one of the instigators.

At this time, I'm inclined to believe Hans hasn't posted because he doesn't have internet access.

The place became to much to deal with and I left right before the "douche". And honestly I rarely ever pop in now. When I do I can see the place is a ghost of it's former self. Used to couldn't keep up with it, now stuff stays on the front page for days.

I've been thinking about Hans for a few weeks and thought I'd pop in to see if he were around. Wherever he is I hope all is well with him.

O, I don't know, the site seems to have gotten busier and busier as the year has gone on. Sure there can be some quiet days, but mostly it seems busy. I posted something tonight and 4 hours later it was on page 3. Ok, that's just tonight, but that sounds like busy.

And I think the site is much better since the clear out. A few of those who left, whether voluntary or not, joined another site and within a few weeks there were problems there and at least one was banned. And that person joined another site and went from there as well. And these sites don't have the commercial aspect that this one does, so it would suggest to me that the problem was never with the site.

Anyway, we have had lots of new members this year. Sure, not all stick around, that's the nature of the beast, but many have and have fitted right in.

Hopefully Hans will be back soon, or at the very least someone will be able to get in touch with him.

I notice Hans' profile states "I'm also an active member of the CAF and belong to the Great Plains Wing of the CAF, home of the P-51D "Gunfighter"..."

If someone knows his actual name, perhaps they might have some word?
