I have a curious question.

So how many models do most of you have on hand to build on any given day?

Are you asking how many kits in our stash or how many we are actually working on at any given time?

In my stash I have 361 (and I'm working on a deal for 86 more from an estate sale!)!  On the bench...about 4-5 going on right now.

I have around 30 models in the stash. I try to build one at a time but usually end up building two or three at the same time. Right now I have an A-10, a 1/1200 Bismarck, and the Italeri TBM Avenger on the bench. Waiting on the airbrush to get fixed though. It's at Badger.

I think I have about 100 or so and try not to buy something but for some unknown reasons, boxes jump into my hands at model shows forcing me to buy them once in a while! :dunno:

I have a friend who has over 1,000 1/72 aircraft kits in his store sized stash, enough for several hundred years of building time.

600+ in the stash now.

5 aircraft and 100 bombs in progress on the build bench, or in the painting area.

the kits aren't the real culprits,,,,,,you can see them pile up,,,,,,the aftermarket decal sheets will sneak up on you though, 100 of those doesn't take up much space, and can cost more than 100 kits do

Have a couple hundred in the stash. Haven't actually counted them in a while and it keeps getting larger all the time. The last time I attempted a count, I realized I had enough to keep me building for about 350 years (at the rate I build). If I don't make it that long Wink, either the grandkids will have fun for a long time, or, the wife will have some extra money to live on.

I have 8 going now.

I have about 20 in the stash now. Pared down from maybe 40-50 by building (about 15) and some ebaying/craigslist. Realized I didn't need 3 copies of the same kit! I also donated a bunch. The ones I sold or donated were ones I did not build as a youngster and were older low quality kits that I realized I wasn't interested in spending my time building. The 20 remaining are almost all ones I built as a kid (lots of matchbox armour and a few monogram aircraft.) The monogram aircraft remaining are all USN WWII aircraft with the "action features" or whatever they call them.

The last few years I have usually had a number of builds going at the same time so there is always something to work on when paint is drying etc. I will also do several subjects with similar base coats (e.g. olive drab, panzer grey etc) in order to be more efficient with the airbrushing. I hate cleaning the thing! Right now I have three on the go but they are all different. Peerless Max 1/35 CMP Field Gun Tractor, Monogram 1/24 Baja Beast and Revell/Italeri 1/35 Pak 40.

I'm thinking it is time to do a sci-fi subject. An x-wing or tie fighter or an Enterprise would be good but I need to find one that is high quality and not too big. I think the new enterprise kit is huge and expensive. Some of the other enterprise kits seem to be really bad. I'll have to do some research to find one won't be to much of a pita to put together.

Well, now I know why I can't find another P47.....

I'm going to have to show my wife this thread.  She thinks I'm excessive with 12 on the shelf waiting.

So far I have 11 in my stash.  But I think that number will approximately double after my tax refund comes in. Wink

My stash is currently at 200+. I would say about 70% of those are ready to go now, in that I have all the AM I need, a diorama planned and all of the accessories ready for it. I like to plan well ahead.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

90. A whole closet full.

A big box full of decals and other AM to do at least half of them up pretty good. A dozen or so each of 190's and 109;s, mostly 1/32s. Enough paint, glue, and other stuff to build most of them. 5 airbrushes. Two compressors (one still new in the box, as my other one thought to be KIA, was suddenly alive again with some parts and proper first aid.)

I keep telling myself..No more models. Build one, Buy another. We all know how that goes...!  Beer

Bronto, are you the guy with the shipping container full of kits in the yard?

I keep forgetting who that is, and I should remember him, because I point to that every time Anne says I have too many.

Right now the stash is sitting at about 70+,  and half of those are going to be simply given away, mostly WWII aircraft, modern aircraft, and WWII armor, to friends who are becoming interested in the hobby. They've just lost their appeal to me. I'll keep a few in those genres in case the bug bites me again, but for now I'm making room for more Wingnut Wings kits and other WWI models.

Yeah I'm the one that had the 53' trailer in my yard.  I have upgraded now though, and built a 14 x 26 ft extension onto the house to put them all in!

Have you got them cataloged into a database? Or a series of photos of the boxes or some such thing?

I am sitting here thinking that you might have a heckova start on a kit-history museum

All are databased, along with whatever aftermarket / decals, etc that I have to go with them.  Not really much here for a museum.  I have slowly been getting rid of the old kits (Aurora, Frog, Veeday, Merlin, Revell-S, Strombecker, etc) that I have since those are the ones that I KNOW I won't build.
