i contacted Revell first via an email addy from their kit instructions. I got a response immediately saying that they were forwarding my request to the appropriate department. Then I found their website parts form, which I also filled out. A day later I received an email acknowledging receipt. Then a couple of confusing emails about my request, undoubtedly caused by my dual requests. Finally, yesterday I received an email from Revell Germany saying that they were sending the parts, free of charge. Great I thought. And to top it off, there was a box from Revell waiting at the post office for me today, with both of the sprues I had requested.

Now that is excellent customer service!

I just ordered a couple of replacement sprues for the Snowberry kit. They were the two smallest ones so I hope they don't want more than the price of a new kit. I'm not expecting free since I'm looking for the entire sprue. And I'm not in a rush. But a response would be nice. We'll see.

Edited to say that they responded almost immediately, so that's promising.

Hello!

I'd say Revell Germany has a great customer service, especially when it comes to parts - because they send you parts for free, they don't even charge any shipping, and they actually need only a polite request - no need to prove you're a legitimate buyer or any stuff like that.

One problem though - as one nice lady from Revell once told me - they get swamped with parts requests after Christmas and it takes them usually until April to process all of those. From April on it only takes about two or three weeks to get the requested parts.

Hope it helps, have a nice day

Paweł

Maybe in Europe they do that, but not in the USA. My sole personal experience with their customer service was no response was ever received from them for a replacement request. I have read of other stateside folks on here having less than stellar experiences as well.

Im not knocking their models at all. But their customer service to North America bites rocks.

A general rule is that no company will send you replacement parts unless the kit is currently in production, and then the question becomes, why not just buy another kit?

(oh, and they are still in business).

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Which kit, 1/32 or 1/48?  The 1/32 kit is from 1969 and last repopped in 2015.  The 1/48 kit is from 1967 and last repopped in 2012.  No parts would be available for both from Revell now, especially.  Since the bankruptcy/reorganization, Revell USA is no more, and Revell of Germany is now Revell.  Best would be two options, look aftermarket, or buy a new kit from Ebay, Amazon, or other online sellers.

Yup, Revell Germany has a completely different customer service program compared to the former Revell USA. And not for the better.

Requested new complete canopy parts for my p51 B  mustang   one month ago and no reply back, not happy  with their  models  or customer service,  used to be great models  to build,  quality has gone by the wayside , want good old Monogram  models back  @

You do realize they are pretty much gone?  Revell Germany is still going but in the US you have to ask around till you find someone that has the canopy in the spares box.

Spitfire

I had to recently order a replacement part (tail stabilizer) and was just curious how they handle these requests.  Do they just send that one part, or do they send the whole sprue that the part is on?

I've ordered two parts that weren't in the box on line, got an order number then waited a month .... Nothing.  I called there 1 800 number and all it did was give the  three options of how to order then hang up. So I tried again on line... Still waiting

I've never tried to get replacement parts from Revell; however, I did have a situation recently involving a Hasegawa F-4G.  I was sorting through the parts when I noticed that a main part of the fuslage was broken off and not in the packaging.  I contacted Hasegawa customer service and ordered the part.  All I had to proved them was the where I purchased the original kit, the approximate date of purchase and the piece that I was requesting.  Again, all I needed was one of the fuselage halves.  I ended up getting the complete sprue tree that contained both halves of the fuselage and various other parts.

I'm impressed with Revell actually.  I boogered up a car body and didnt have the UPC that they required because I tossed the box.  So I asked if there was anything I could still do.  I also explained it was I that ruined it and asked if I could pay them for a new one.   They just asked for a pic of the instructions and offered to send out a new one.  Cant beat that!

A couple of months back I ordered a replacement canopy for the 1/48 F-14 which was cracked when I opened the box. I went on their site, followed the directions and had a replacement in about 2-3 weeks.

Yup, that sounds like my experience with them as well... About a week after the part is ordered, you have it in your grubby little paws! Their customer service is to be commended!

You just have to beware of the shipper!!  I purchased a ROG Audi T10 TDI from my LHS a while back.  I didn't notice that the box was opened until I got home.  When I got it home, I opened it up to find the body tub and under tray missing!  Since I knew they had a good spare parts policy, I ordered these parts, and waited patiently for them to arrive.  When the box got kicked off the BigBrownTruck, one side was split open and the box was empty.

Oh well, I was going to use the kit to build it up with the Scale Motorsports detail kit, so before I ordered another R10 kit, I figured I'd get the Scale Motorsports detail kit in to see what it contained.  It came with a new resin body and under tray anyway, so there was no need for those spares.

Oh and for those that don't want to do the math, that was only 5 days from the time of the order and its arrival.

UPDATE:  I submitted the replacement part request through the Revell website last week on the day that I posted this thread.  It arrived in the mail yesterday.  It was just the part of the sprue that contained the requested part.  So there you have it, if you ever need a part from Revell don't hesitate to order it, that was very fast service.

With tail firmly tucked between my legs, I've humbly asked them for replacement parts for things that I've either lost or simply screwed up.  Much to my surprise, they've always sent me the replacement parts no matter what the reason.  Normally, they've sent me a section of the sprue which contained the part I needed along with some other parts along with it.

Spitfire, I hope they're able to send you the parts soon!

I did recently--a new windshield for one of my students' 1:32 Bell X-1. I was amazed at how fast they shipped it to me--and for free!

I have requested replacements from Revell twice.

First time was for replacement Shuttle fuel tank halves that had been warped during manufacture.

Second time was for replacement decals because I accidentally damaged the sheet; ' I offered to pay for the replacement but Revell sent the decals to me at no charge.

Great Service !Big SmileYes

I too had spilled a can of Coke on a Revell-Monogram Avenger (ancient reissued kit) decal sheet and they replaced it for free. I forgot about that.

The part they sent me when one was damaged was a clear canopy for a 1/48 AV-8B Harrier. That kit came with a book and a resin nose for a night fighter version. The heavy resin nose was loose in the box and busted the canopy.

Rob,

I tried to get the exact same canopy for the same reason and they told me they couldn't get me one.  This was last year sometime.

John

Unfortunately, the kit must be in production when you request a part; they do not keep an inventory of parts for OOP kits.

I would guess that I got the canopy maybe 5 years ago, perhaps more.
