4 to 5 years and I plan to go another 30 years. Off to the store!

I'll go another 20 + years, assuming my Pulmonary Fibrosis doesn't get me first. Now building 1 per month I could get my stash completed in 5 years, give or take.

Even if I were to speed up to complete 1 per month (never happen), I won't delete the stash.  I'm 74 now, so, I guess I'll just have to continue living for at least another 200 years.  If not, I'll just have to take them with me to "The Great Workbench In The Sky" and finish them there.  As no one seems to be able to tell me if that is possible or not, I guess I'll leave them to the grandkids.

Oh I do love this question! How long do I have to live? Well only time will tell. BUT, at the build rates in common with above of 10-12 builds a year, and at last count of my stash a few years back, I have a 30-40 year supply of builds in my stash. With my family history saying that I should live around that long, I'm in good shape there. Now presuming that I survive my current career for another 4-5 years and retire, my build rate can increase since I won't have that pesky job getting in the way of bench time anymore. If not? Keep your eyes peeled on eBay guys, because I'm sure that my presumed widow will be supplementing my life  insurance payout with selling my stash. ;)

Not a pleasant topic to consider.  But reality kicks in, and I am 73.  A few months ago, I was going into the hospital, and thought I maybe had one more model to finish.  I had a 1/48 Corsair in my stash, and decided to build it for my son, as it is his favorite airplane.  I got it finished and mounted in a display case and shipped it off to him, it arrived undamaged, and so am I.  I guess the good Lord has given me time for a few more!

Karl made a funny, but it's also true. My Oncologist (that is past history) told me that reducing stress levels boosts your immune system.

well if i live to 94 like my dad I have 41 more years.  So for me that's about 7.5 models a year out of my stash,  it's actually possible.  Never did the math before,  Off to the store i wanna live longer!!

Only the good Lord knows when I will be heading to the big hobby store in the sky.  I'm 60 and from what I have now and the speed I build, if I don't get anything else maybe 20 years or less.

Now my 65 year old buddy with a 3,000 kit stash better stay immortal if he wants to finish his stash!  

What a great question with equally great responses!  Some of them have made me bust out laughing here at my desk.

Let's see, I think my current rate of model completion is about 4 kits per year.  At that rate, I only need to stick around for five more years.  Needless to say, I'm sticking around until a good 1/48 scale Banshee or P-61E comes around.

I'd like to put in a request.  If either of those two kits should come out after my demise, I give you all permission to exhume me and have me build the kit a la "Weekend at Bernie's" style.

I don't think that is a fair Question .Why ? Well , we may personally have a giant stash or a tiny stash . Only the will of God decides how long we will be around .

   Technically I should've been gone in 2010 , but thanks to good ( darned good ) doctors and the wonder of electronics I am still here .See ? We just don't know  .Build what we can and if you are afraid they will be sold or trashed give them to the V.A. Recreation Service or Wounded Warriers !

I found a site called Ubble which purports to foretell the chances of your death within the next five years based on your answers to a series of questions. Although the site states that it only is applicable to residents of the UK, and I'm in California, I took it anyway figuring if I didn't like the answer, then it would not apply! I found out that the chances of my dying in the next 5 years is only 1.6%, so obviously the site must be spot on. Lots of modeling time left for me.

Hmmm, I just took that test and It said my chances were 1.6% as well. It didn't ask me about my Pulmonary Fibrosis though. I'll bet that would have knocked the percentage up a few notches.

LOL! Yeah, my high BP didn't seem to matter either. I can't quite figure out how they arrived at their conclusion, but it was good, so I'm going with it.

I just turned 45. I need to speed up my building. Life keeps getting in the way. Or course, the alternative wouldn't let me build much either, I'm afraid.

My stash is not finite, however. Someone once told me my hobby is not actually building models, but collecting them. It's a mix, I suppose!

Well, I buy them faster than I build so I guess I'll be immortal too!

I'd offer to donate them to my IPMS club but I'm too afraid they'd whack me to get my stash...

God put me on earth to build a certain number of models. Right now, I am so far behind, I may NEVER die.....

Man, if I could build one a month, I'd be done with my stash in a little over 7 years. I have 85 kits in the stash, including the ones "in progress". Right now, I have about 6 in progress, and I've been working on them for over a year now!! Work keeps getting in the way. I guess it's my way of cheating death!!

I'm a newbie.  I only have 8 kits waiting to be built, and I'm 47.  Then again, I've already had one heart attack, so I better get busy.  

I just try not to think morbid thoughts like this- the Lord will call us when it's time, fitting his purpose for us. Meanwhile, keep on chugging and enjoying life, friends, and hobbies.
