it means 1/72 scale. I think it was one of the first consistent scales that kits were manufactured to. The larger scales (1/48 and 1/32) are slowly catching up to the number of subjects depicted. That said, if you cant find a subject in 1/72, you arent looking hard enough!

I see that term getting thrown around a lot so I was just curious, which scald is the one true one and why?
