Update: Through a series of events I have learned that how I post my images from Flickr may cause some peoples browsers to try and download them by when they click on them. This may be specific to people that use Firefox as a browser. This lead me to search out a better process.

In doing that I have found a nice step by step outline. Posted below are three different ways to accomplish things specific to what you may be trying to do. For me, and for most people here, the second one is the way to go. This is the "Get a direct URL to it."  For people that want their images to not have all the URL data posted with the image, this is the one. I have tested this process and this has fixed the download issue. My previous posts in this thread should be ignored for the most part. Some of the information may be useful but the correct way to go about this seems to be as laid out below. Hopefully, this may help to clear up any confusion that I caused as I tried to learn this. And maybe, it will help people looking to make the switch.

As a side note. I have been using Flickr for two months now and it works like a dream. There are so many things that I like about it in comparison to PB. The most of which is that it is fast. I will stop there.

THE END.

My Photobucket is a bust also. So many pop-ups, slugish in performance. I no longer bother with the site. Use.com works well enough for me.

I've had a Flickr account for my aviation and car photography for some time now. I'm about to quit the account though. I try to stay logged in all the time but sometimes I get logged out I have to reset my password. This effort can take days because with Yahoo, resetting a password, well, is just aweful. There is no simple, straight ahead way to reset the password. They make it as tough as they can, I guess to teach some sort of lesson. I guess I have a Yahoo user name somewhere I can use to get in. Just gotta find it.

I do have some great pictures there if anyone wants to see them. No password needed.

I uploaded a few pics to Google Photos, and got one into a post on the FineScale forums, but tried it in another forum I frequent- no luck there.  So it is a mixed bag.

Only problem with PhotoSuckIt now is I can't download my photo's to my phone or tablet. When I click to open a photo in their app I get that same logo saying to upgrade. Over 800 photo's possibly lost forever. No way I'd pay $400 to show photo's I don't make money from.

On another note, trying use.com. Hopefully my test pic shows when I hit submit.

Took me a while with the locking up and popup ads but I finally downloaded all of my photos and closed my account.

Was a member there since 2006 and people use these sites for third party image hosting. Wanting us to pay $400 all of a sudden so that we can do what we have been doing pretty much ranks up there with extortion.

I had no problem downloading 2300 photos in about 5 minutes. They were all in one album fortunately, as their feature only allows one album to be downloaded at a time.

But all 375 G are now in a zip file on my server.

Going through them, tossing a lot. All on my time.

I'm not going to bother to delete them or close my account. Their problem, not mine.

I was thinking of leaving them there also but I spent the time uploading them and wasn't going to be able to post them if needed.  I dont need them saying that thoses photos are now theirs so I deleted them.  Closed out the account and was able to tell them how things have changed for the worse in the past 11 years on their site and that I would never use them again.

It's not all that hard to delete them. Simply check each image on the page and delete. You can do them by page. That's how I did it.

Oh yeah, I fired off a note with plenty of colorful language telling them why I'm closing the account. I even threatened to sue them if they hold any stray pics of mine hostage because they're my property not theirs.

Here's what I gather will happen. I read through their terms, which as those things go was pretty insincere.

Anyone can keep a free account with a data limit of 2GB. My most current data load was about 375 GB. They don't seem to be able to automatically upgrade you, but watch for any "confirmation of plan" slipperyness.

They also don't seem to have a clear deadline, but I've got to assume it will be very soon.

They will delete data to reduce it to the limit of your plan, in the case of a free account down to 2 GB. The argument is that yes you get to keep a small plan, but any excess data constitutes a violation by you (us) of the Terms. So if you don't want that to happen, get it off NOW.

There's no possibility of suing these guys. The Terms include a Waiver of Trial. That means arbitration, and unless you live in New York, that means travel and expenses.

And they've got good lawyers who have already figured this out.

Photobucket, if you are listening, it would do you a lot of positive PR to recognize that 75% of your users (the portion that you identify as free users who use your site for 3rd party posting, otherwise known as the non-paying leeches who are wrecking your business models) could be helped with some simple steps regarding how and when to take their marbles and go home. I see a little bit more of that on the site today, so i assume you are getting the message.

Right... I've been grabbing my marbles a few at a time. Downloading my albums via zip files is anything but zippy... maybe because their site is swamped by folks doing the same thing, who knows.

My gut tells me this move is a good way to commit business suicide, shut down the site, and get a business loss tax write off... but that is pure speculation on my part.

Or, and here is where I'll get laughed at by those who know...

They bought the bandwidth for other uses.

The CEO's explanation is pure doo doo. First the spin- "We are the only site to offer UNLIMITED storage".

Then- "We are only doing this because everyone else is". That one I get, but what a PR fiasco.

Those two statements show how much they don't know abour the business they are in. Both statements are false.

Other smaller businesses have figuered out how to do this without pissing off their users. They could have also.

I'm going to try IMGUR.  There's a nice tutorial over on Hyperscale from last Friday.  Looks easy enough and you don't have to set up an account if don't want to.

Hey Mike Brindos--I am building the 1/48 Monogram Zero for the Monogram Mafia IV group build.  Looks like a blank canvas for your talent. Reasonable shape and barren interior.  If the pic thing works for me keep an eye out and throw me suggestions!

I've been wanting to do that kit again. I wouldn't mind giving you some ideas.
