Great idea!
Please put me down. I'm not sure what I'll build, The Atomic City Mercury capsule comes
to mind, but I have pleanty of Real Space to build!
I'll add you to the list, JJ! Have a great time down at the cape!
Gary

Count me in for a Revell Saturn V.
current projects:
1/48 Revell bf109 g10
1/144 Revell Apollo Saturn V
on deck:
unknown scale Revell sr-71 blackbird
Bakster Gary, okay, and understood. No worries. If the mission gets scrubbed, I'll light this candle anyway. That is a cool build. I hope you find the missing pieces. I always liked that kit.

What would be cooler is scratch-building the rest of the Saturn V in 1/48th scale! Let me compute how tall that would be...
GAF Bakster> Thanks! I have a few more of various images that I'll post in the next few weeks.

I hope the GB will come together. However, I warn you that I'll do a roll-call a week or so before the GB starts. If there are too few participants (as noted in the first post), I'll abort the launch. We'll see.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to scrounge up parts to finish an Apollo Command Module and LM model, Revell model 85-5090 as shown here:
https://jonrocket.com/store/products/apollo-lunar-spacecraft-plastic-model-1-48-scale
Somewhere over the years I've tossed the escape tower and the base. I have the folding panels (5 of them as I had two models at one time). Gathering information on the LES so I might be able to scratch build something.
Gary, I like both badges. Both are equally cool!
Yeah about the Saturn V. I will love watching that one come together. As a kid I bought and built it three times over a 10 year period. Each time I wanted to do it justice, each time I failed miserably. I needed someone to teach me about how to apply paint!
I am really looking forward to this GB and seeing all the models come together. We ought to see some really cool builds.
Justinryan215> Welcome! Wish I still had my Revell Saturn V. Only parts of her left now after 50 years.
And here's a couple more suggestions for Group Badges:

you can count me in on this! I've got the big Revell Saturn V waiting for years now....we are coming into my busy cub scout season, but I think I can squeeze in enough bench time in nine months to get this thing into launch ready mode!

I think it looks great.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

modelcrazy No problem Gary, Just PM me before you go live so I can be sure and be the second post.

Thanks! I'll shoot you a PM to arrange things. Still some time to go.
Bakster> I love that movie too. My uncle was a crewman aboard one of the recovery helicopters of the early Mercury flights. I need to contact my cousin to find out exactly which one.
Meanwhile, I've been playing around with badge images. I have a few selected, and I'll be posting them up later for your comments and selection. Here's the Sputnik image supplied by Trabi with GB info. What do you think?
T-minus 67 days and counting.
I am raring to go. My model is ready and I re-watched The Right Stuff last night.
Jimp? What the h-- is a Jimp?
I absolutely love that movie.
modelcrazyI can help you Gary, what do you need me to do?
I'm in.
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
this is what I have to choose from a monogram 1/32 apollo comand module and coldwar stuff.
Nick.
Trabi,
Yes, that would make a cool badge and I'll edit it with an appropriate slogan, along with some other images for a good variety. Thank you!
Tony and Nick,
Shouldn't be too hard to find a subject. Many aircraft would qualify, from F-86s to F-16s which were used as chase planes. A B-52 with one of the lifting bodies or the X-15. They used M-113s as rescue vehicles at the launch site. You can find pictures of them online. Or even recovery ships, or a helicopter.
Looks like this may be a go. Still need to find someone to help co-host. Any volunteers?
Meanwhile, choose your station.
I'm like Nick, I'll have to find something. But I'll build something if you manage to launch this thing !
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
I’m in I’ll think of something?
Trabi if you want to use that picture as base for badge feel free so.

That would be a cool badge.
In interested. I have an Estes Saturn V I have been wanting to get to and have a reason to build.
I could also replicate my Sputnik model I did in the 4th grade. It was a styrofoam ball with some bamboo skewers sticking out of it.
Hi!
This GB sounds interesting! I would like to join this. My plan is to scratch build Sputnik 1.
I have old model of Sputnik from 1957/58. My father bought it from antique shop from Kiew back in mid 80´s. Gary, if you want to use that picture as base for badge feel free so.

Hi,
I have a "Mach 2" X-24B that I would like to try and build for this GB.
Pat
Gary...I think this is a great idea for a GB!!!! I'd be in if you do one.
Sounds like some interesting subjects, especially that AN-225.
I know what you mean about finishing GB models.
Ark Models is working on a 1/144 injection molded Buran:
https://m.vk.com/wall-107275985_7460
I do question the leading edge break, as I thought the Buran's was sharp whereas the US shuttle was filleted. Typical of me, I am wondering if Ark will do the jet powered version that flew to validate approach/landing procedures. Not only did it have jet pods scabbed onto its heinie, the landing gear came from a Tu-22 Blinder, most likely to allow a proper attitude for the necessary runway take-offs.
Oh and by the way, Revell Germany has announced a 1/144 An-225 Mriya, the 6-engined gargantuan mutant An-124 that was built to carry the Buran!
Gee, come to think of it, the US shuttle is another significant type that begs for a modern, detailed, accurate kit. And me being me, I want a plastic Soviet N-1 moon rocket. The Realspace kit is resin and a dinosaur.
This GB has my interest piqued, but I have yet to finish any GB model..
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Thanks! A couple more general members and I'll post this us in the other threads to see if there is interest.
I have another project running but I love all things space. I'll fit it in. Save a seat for me.
I love the idea! I have a LM that I would love to finish for the 50th Anniversary.
