As an armor specialist, I look for variety and try to avoid duplications. It depends on if you consider variants within the same vehicle series to be duplicates or not, but I have a very short list of even that category:

2 Pz IIs (both 1/35 Tamiyas, one DAK, one BoF)
2 Pz IIIs (1/35 Tamiyas, one DAK, one BoF)
2 Pz IVs (1/35 Tamiya Ausf D BoF, 1/35 Academy H/J)

And that's it...all the others are one of a kind within their variant class although I will soon have two StuG III's, one a C/D and one a G, in the collection.

Cool [8D]I've built 6 F-14's and 7 Spitfires all different in version or appearance. As to why I have so many of these two types, it's simply because I luv 'em!

Later,
Darren.

Like LemonJello, I refuse to buy any kit I have already built. With so many different models to choose from, I think I would need to build every kit I wanted to build before I come back around for a replay.

The only exception to this is replacing kits that over my military service were Boohoo [BH]Boohoo [BH]lost or damaged during moves, and there were quite a few.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Oh my, I have a half dozen Tamiya F4-U's of various variants. However I just took a peek at my stack and found 10 P-40's all 1/48 scale. I have no clue what I was thinking!!
Man these blades are sharp....... Where's this red stuff coming from????
