I dabbled with model kits when I was a kid, started doing it as my main hobby since '97.

I used to do the old slap-together builds when I was younger. Stopped from about 12yrs to 18yrs old. Got back into it about 2-3 years ago.

I started at age 6 under helpful guidance of my granddad.
At age 15 I started painting models, so that would be my start for "serious" modelling.
So I have been modelling for about 20 years, but in all honesty, only the last 10 count.

25 years off and on and not all plastic (lots of flying models - free flight control line and R/C). Have been active again in the plastic arena about 12 months but have really picked up the pace this year.

Started in the mid 50's. Had to stop in the early to mid 60's when I went into the USAF. Started again in the mid 60's and haven't stopped or slowed down since.

1st ever build was a USS Nautilus in 1971. Still remember the smell of fresh glue. And then there was that Aurora Panther tank incident.....something about 10 cent Testor's green paint in the bathroom sink. Or was it Pactra?

Started early 70's like gangbusters until early 80's. The usual hiatis until I joined the forum some 2 years ago. Whole new world from the early 80's with all the am stuff out there and manufacturers like Dragon. Now if I could just finish something.

Started around 1950 with flying models. Got real heavy into scale model control line. Took some time off for College & Marriage. Started building static models in the early 1960's. Been at it fairly steady ever since, although subject matter has changed a few times over the years. Got heavy into building 1/43 race cars for a while, flirted with Armor, built an N-Scale model railroad, took a short fling with RC Aircraft. But I always seem to gravitate back to my true love, 1/48 WWII Aircraft. I also paint figures, mostly Fantasy stuff these days.

I built my first model during Ike's first administration and kept it up until his vice president was sitting in the oval office. I returned as an adult in 1975.

I built them from about 8 to 13 then found girls were more interesting. Joined the Navy and picked it up again from about 86 to 90 (went to the Gulf and when I came back wasn't interested) I picked it up about 1.5 yrs ago so I guess about 10 and a half yrs total... back in the 80's I learned a lot of things, but this time coming back it's a whole new world so I am really starting off in the shallow end of the pool...

Started building about 1965 or so. Off and on since then. My last "Off" session ended about 18 months ago when I started back up again.

I probably built my first model in 1975 or 1976 (can't really recall) and built various models on and off until about 1984. Then I took about 19 years off while serving in the USAF. I started building again a little over two years ago.

Myself, I built my first kit in December of 2003. I finally got an airbrush in August 2004. So I'd say I've been modeling about a year now.
