Well, my current girlfriend is supportive of my hobby, though she isn't interested in taking it up herself. She's been honest and says she thinks there are better ways to spend money. She knows my money is mine and this hobby is preferable to me being in strip joints, buying porn or drinking.

Thankfully she has a higher level of maturity than a previous girlfriend I had who was one of those "Whats yours is ours and what's mine is my own" types who would think nothing of fetching one of my finished peices off the shelf to let the destructive kid of some guest play with.

She collected teddy bears and God help you if you went near them, that would not have bothered me if the teaddy bears she collected were truly collector's bears, you know, Steiff or Gund or some other high level brand. She collected the K-Mart sale day specials, made in China or wherever and treated them like investment grade bears. I got the reaming out of my life the day when a visitor's little girl innocently went into the room where she kept the bears. I ended that relationship right there. She can have the bears and I hope she's happy.

My current girlfriend thought it odd that so much research should be put into a model, but she is a good sport. Back in May she told me about an exhibition of the Czech Armed Forces she was working at (she's a civilian employee of the Czech army). I would not have known about it otherwise and would not have gotten the opportunity to crawl all over and inside some awesome Eastern made military machines like a Mil-24 Hind helicopter and a T-72 tank to name a couple.

I think this ones a keeper! :-)

My wife is very supportive of my new hobby, and doesn't even wince when the credit card bill comes in the mail. In fact she encourages me, as she is appreciative that I spend my time at home instead of being a golf widow like some of her friends.

We've been married for 21 years now, and by golly I hope she keeps me for another 21...Big Smile [:D]

So long folks!

the ^%%$$$^ only lasts a couple minutes a month so i can deal with that
and if i cant i up my medications a bit
she even comes to the hobby shop ( and it is not to make sure i dont buy but because she likes to look around
we have been married almost 25 yrs and if i was not married to her i would probably have expired 12-15yrs ago and not be here to write this

my girlfriend and I are ogether for two and a half years now.
At first she thought that modelling was for kids, that it was a fase that would pas as soon as I would start working.
Nowadays she is far more understanding, she tried figure painting once and that gave her some insight about the difficulties you can have when building a model. She is semi supportive of my hobby, she understands that I need some space/time and money for it.
The only thing that she doesn't undetstand is why I have a stash that can last me for about 15 years...Big Smile [:D]

My good lady, being 4 months pregnant, finds the fact that I breath annoying, so I'm staying down in the basement with the glue and the paint, lol
She has not said a huge amount, other than "where the hell are you going to put THAT?"
maybe I should started with a 1/72 tiger moth!

Congrats!

My wife is in her 7th month with our first child. She's been exceptionally supportive of my modeling, but only has a passing interest in doing it herself.

Regards,

Hehehe. Yes my wife is very supportive of the hobby, but she did give me the look after my last ebay purchase. She too has seen the growing stash. I just point my finger at her growing stash...........shoes! That does tend to bring her back down off her horse.
