Thanks eizzle.  It's a blast to drive, 287 hp, 6 speed, performance model with 18" ultra low profile tires.  I've had it up to 130mpg... rock solid.

I wanted to build her a model of it to keep on her desk at work, I picked up the Tamiya kit, only real downside is the kit is a right hand drive model, but close enough.

Man, its fun at that speedBig Smile [:D] I had my SRT-4 up to 145 and that was about all I had left, pretty darn fast, to fast for me! Yeah, I wish somebody would model an SRT-4, but it doesn't seem like its ever going to happen, since they are out of production nowSad [:(]

145 eh?  That's fast.  The Z will do 156, but I have yet to find a stretch of road where I can even attempt that, unless my wife and I do a road trip to Vegas, lots of smooth, straight road and you can see for miles.

Yeah, its pretty fast! I have one spot I have found to do it in, its a nice long strech of interstate that is about 5 or 6 miles long, straight, and plenty of room to see. Its a blast, but once I started thinking about what would happen if I hit a dear it was pretty much back down to 70 from thereBig Smile [:D]

You're right eizzle it'd pass EveryThing BUT a gas station. When we first got it on the road a 60 vette pulled up & wanted to race for "pinks". Now the Nomad was a sight to see then, body work in various stages, windscreen & door glass were the only ones installed at the time. We whooped the poor kid & he lost the vette.

Man, I bet that guy still has regrets about that day! Why would you risk the pink slip for a Vette for something, and no offense, looked that rough?

It was pretty rough as we barely started the body work. Had alot of bondo work done & more to do yet & what was done, some was primered about 1/3rd of the work was done.  Stock wheels, primer & rust all over & no glass from the doors back.
The kid in the vette "insisted" we race for pinksShock [:O] I was drivin' the Nomad & so, we switched riders. Now I must state the Nomad was set up as a "street-sleeper" (the nitro bottle was hidden in the heater core & the lines ran thru the heater hose to the water pump, popped out & up to the carb) The nitro switch was under the seat by the door. I dusted the vette & my partner said the kid cried all the way home (we let him  take it home & clean it out & get the title!) The kid's dad really chewed him a new one over thatSign - Oops [#oops]Black Eye [B)]
His dad understood it & was laffin' about it as he signed it over to us. he even asked to see the engineShock [:O] He was a mechanic & he almost missed the tell-tale & really rubbed it in on the kid about being Stupid.... Then praised us for the work we've done so far & for teaching his son a valuable (hard) lesson in life.
The vette was in A-1 condition inside & out.

Sorry to hear about the LHS closing...
I do my part to keep mine in business... The past 5 or 6 times i've gone in there, I've bought something. I love browsing and fantasizing (is that really the right word?!?!?) about kits. My poor dog doesnt like when we go there though... he always spends at least 30 mins in my car (doing god knows what).

The day at the hobby shop I met the guy who let me spend the rest of the day testing his AB's at his bodyshop was kind of like that for me. The guy lined up a few hoods against the wall, had some pre-mixed paint on the bench and just sat there BS'ing about what we've done and the types of cars or custom work.

He told me he's been going to the LHS for years. He thinks the guy stopped selling Badger AB's and switched to Azteks because either he wasn't moving enough stock or not enough profit. He also told me to "be careful of what I buy at the HS, some of the stuff there is REALLY old, just look at the dust, it won't come off". Shock [:O]

Any way, besides the guy working in a bodyshop and doing some custom work. He has a heck of a collection of model cars too. The wall in his office behind the desk has shelfs filled with them. I didn't count them but I would guess at least 200, 4 shelfs with around 50 on them. He told me he has much more at home and he's been building since he was a kid. Mostly now though he tries to find a model and test out a color on it before he sprays it on an old car.

I stopped in to see him a couple of times already at his shop. Learning a few tricks with the AB and picking up a few pointers for my models too. He's got some killer colors kicking around the shop too. I might have to re-think my idea of factory stock or by a few duplicate models LOL.

Oh, one thing he told me... I probably should have saved some money, or get it later, and use a cheap single-action for spraying my car models. Especially since I'll mostly be spraying them one solid color. He said it would be just like using my spray gun painting a real car. Hummm...

Speaking of leaving babies in the car Ed, we had that happen here, not really here, in Indianapolis, at least 6 times this summer! I don't know what is making these people so stupid, but to leave a baby in a car is bad enough, but to leave them in it on a scorching hot day!Angry [:(!] I tell ya, the world would be better off if we just took these people out and plugged em! I can't imagine the guilt and ridicule one would face from doing something so stupid? Man, if my ex ever did something like that to my daughter... well, let me just ask this, does anybody know if they have computers in prisons so I can still talk to you guys???

eizzle, I have a friend who lost a baby to "crib death" some 7-8 yrs. ago. She still feels the loss & we have our discussions on it now & then. The loss was no-fault of her own but, she still blames herself.
I feel that people who leave their kids in the car "unattended" are asking for trouble & should be "dealt with" accordingly. As for your questin... Not all states have internet access for the inmates....

RadMax, that's a good lookin' shep there bro! Bet he'd have no trouble bustin' a window if it got too blasted hot in there...

Yeah 90 lbs of pure muscle... no trouble at allYeah!! [yeah]. He scares a lot of people... for the most part he's just as friendly as can be, but people see how big he is and get scared... like at drive thrus. He loves to smell the food and look in places, so when i pull up and the person opens the window and get an eyeful of a dog's head poking out a window, they kinda freak and ask questions.Evil [}:)]gives their day at least 1 interesting moment...

Yeah we just had a place bite the dust too.  The thing is the manufactures don't give the small guys a brake.  Great models and squadron are great for getting kits but its the supplies that is the problem.  who wants to wait a week or two for a bottle of paint? Or that piece of Plastistruc you need, or that little tool ya didnt know ya needed.  The small mom and pop hobby shop can't hope to compete.  The other promblem is getting kids into the hobby.  Lets be frank a lot of folks still think we play with toys never realizing that model making is an art form.

Even the Boy Scouts will not recognise our art.  Their merit badge in MODEL MAKING and DESIGN doesn't seriously even approuch our art form.   Kits are not allowed no matter how well done.

Oh well guess we will have to adapt

Another problem with ordering a couple bottles of paint online is it cost at most $4 for the paint, but $5 and up for shipping! I ordered 3 needles for my airbrush from dixieart, and got charged $9.75 for shipping, and the postage on the package was $1.02? I know they all have set rates for shipping and the other goes for handling, but man, sometimes it gets a little out of hand!

On the subject of Boy Scouts, my LHS sponsors a troop. I don't know if his son is in the troop, or he happens to know somebody, but that is the way to do it. He said that is the best thing he could have done, cause now he has boys coming in wanting to buy kits and has other troops interested in doing model building to help teach the kids how things are put together, and teach them patience. I myself think its a great idea, its just to bad that more stores don't try to get out there to the community like that, cause I would rather give my money to someone who helps out in the community, rather than someone who doesn't My 2 cents [2c]

Ed, I know that things happen, and I feel nothing but sorrow for a person that loses a child, cause after having one of my own, you start to look at things diffrently. Its people that intentionally abuse their children or don't take care of them because it might require them to take to long or to be inconveninced. Those people I have no use for! Its to bad that people are sometimes so lazy as to leave a child in a car cause it will take me an extra 5 minutes to get them out and another 5 minutes to put them back in. Sorry, I'll stop and get back on the subject now SoapBox [soapbox]

So are you going to have mailorder when you open your new shop Ed?

That is a beautiful shepard Rad! How old is he? My Dad has a female who is mostly black, she is almost 7 I believe, and still hyper as all get out. She is starting to calm down a little due to problems with her hips, from what I understand a lot of shepards have that problem due to something about when people bred them a long time ago to get that slope or stance that they are famous for.

Ours didn't show any signs of problems until just lately. I patted her on the hip and she turned around and about bit me Shock [:O] Scared me, I've seen what those teeth will do to a frisbe or stick!!! It isn't really noticable until she starts trying to climb stairs or stands up, then you can tell they bother her because she moves so slow, but hopefully it won't get any worse than what it is now.

Well I'm headed for Reno,NV Friday & while thumbin' thru the LHS Directory in the back of the latest FSM I found a LHS in Reno,... High Sierra Models (they also have a website... think it's: highsierramodels.com) I did a google search & found it.
Looks like it will be worth checking out... Might be a better way of "losin" my money up  there Tongue [:P] It'll definately give me something to do when bored with the tables & slotsBig Smile [:D]

That's my LHS!  I go there probably at least once a week now.  They have a nice selection of kits and their prices aren't too bad.  I've been going there for years!  It's funny, I think I spend more money at High Sierra Models now than I do at Best Buy, which is really saying something!  I just picked up the 1/32 Trumpter P-40B (Hawk IIA) for $37, not bad for a brick and mortor store.  The guy who does all their ordering and manages their inventory lived across the street from me before I got married and bought a new house.  So, say hi to Tom when you're there.  He's great about special ordering things too.  My wife surprised me a couple years ago and had him order a bunch of turned aluminum barrels for me for Christmas for a bunch of the tanks in my model stash.

Great store, great wife.  :)
