Look what my girlfriend got me!!!
Posted by Daywalker on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 9:50 PM

A week or so ago, I was at my LHS and saw that they still had a kit I had wanted on their shelf.  It was marked way down, but was still a little more than I could comfortably pay.  I asked the owner about it, and he gave me a lower price yet!  I still hesitated, thinking maybe in a few more months I could afford it.

Well, today I got a bonus check from work for the same amount as the model and I thought "TODAY IS THE DAY!" so I called the LHS to make sure it was still there.

He told me they sold it yesterday.

I was crushed!  I was having a rough day at work and the thought of going and picking up that kit would make me feel better.  Now the day got even worse.  No kit.  Bummer.

I come home from work, thoroughly down and explain why to my girlfriend.  She says "I think I may be able to help you feel better" and I think "Yeah, right."

Guess what she had done?  I had called her earlier in the day and told her what a day it had been.  She was off today, so she called the LHS to find out if the kit was still there, and it was.  She went and picked it up for me, and had it here when I got home.  I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!  Is she amazing, or what?  She told the owner of the LHS that if I called or came to pick it up not to tell me she was there getting it for me.  So, I thought somebody else had gotten it.  But no!  I DID!!! Big Smile [:D]  Here's what I found waiting for me when I got home tonight:

A 1/32 Tamiya F-16C Thunderbirds!

Having been in this relationship thing for the past 28 years...your gonna pay! Women may not seem to have a motive at the time, but deep inside they always keep track of these things. They always keep the ledger balanced towards their favor...so my friend when you least expect it. You'll pay!

Very cool surprise- lucky you to have such a gal.  My GF tolerates the trips to the LHS, but thinks that this hobby is more of a sickness than anything else.

But yes, you'll pay later.  I suggest a pre-emptive strike by taking her out to dinner or something else mushy and sentimental.  Do that and you'll be 1 up on her.Wink [;)]

This reminds me of a guy that went to the library and asked the librarian where he would find a book on Understanding Women.  She referred him to the Unsolved Mysteries Section.

I have been known to pop my head in and out of the forums...I also work with Frank and got the same bonus that he did...

Just to clear the air I have no intention of making him "pay" and I take that comment in jest as I assume it was intended.  I got Frank the F16 not only because I love him but he is helping me out a lot.  I am moving and need to be out of my apartment by noon on the first but I can't move in to my new apartment untill noon on the first.  So my wonderful boyfriend is letting me put my junk in his garage until I can move it in to my new place.

He never asks for anything and like on these forums is always willing to help out whenever he can.  If I can do something nice for him once in a while I will.  Believe me he gives back 10 fold.  I wasn't going to give him the plane until after I moved in my new place but he had such a rotten day I gave it too him early.

Katie

PS Diner does sound good!  I would like something on the grill!  I put steaks in the fridge yesterday Frankie!!!

Hi nam!

Frank had a little trouble with his Spitfire and I had to explain that just because he has a bad day doen't mean I will buy him a model.

I know that the coments made were light hearted and I am not at all upset.  I just want everyone to know that Frank has done so much for me and he ask for sooooo little that the F16 was something that I knew he would love and a way to show my aprecation for all that he does for me.  He is a hard one to supprise!
