I am in transition in my philosophy of modeling.
I used to buy a model kit and build either to box art or the instructions.
Recently, though I decided that each model will be an opportunity to stretch my abilities in research, construction technique, and finishing.
My goal is to challenge my existing abilities.
A case in point is an AMT 1953 Corvette in which I have opened the doors, cowl vent, trunk, boot area(convertible top storage). Not only have I never done this before, but I have to learn how to fabricate the hinges, latches, related hardware and structure.
It is more important to me to achieve a new level of excellence than to buld my status quo.
