I built this helo kit as part of a larger model project, a 1:48 scale 270' class cutter. It's a Trumpeter kit, a fairly easy build. As with all kits a little add on work makes it a bit more interesting. My only complaint is that the kit had no windshield wipers, a little strange considering the scale.
I cut one of the engine access doors open, as well as the cabin side and overhead doors. I also opened a side door on the fuselage.
The cabin was detailed close to the prototype's appearence and painted in the current Coast Guard style(the H-65 was originally painted CG white and red). The scratchbuilt items include the engine, the door machine gun with stand, wind shield wipers, and the extension of the aircraft's nose. I believe the kit depicts the HH-65A and my mods are in keeping with the "C" model.
To complete the model, I'll add the rotor tiedowns and the web straps deck tiedowns when the big cutter is complete.
