Troy,
Don't throw away those decals. Just coat them with Micro superfilm and they will be as good as new. A lot of the older microscale decals were printed with thin decal film. They would disintegrate as soon as they were put in water. Should have warned you earlier. Sorry. I use the stuff on all Micro/Superscale decals as a matter of habit.

Outstanding work on your Helo! I love looking at it! 1/35, that's a big kit!

I want to know, how do you keep it looking so white? Whenever I paint something all white like that, I invariably get dark smudges, fingerprints; and when painting with red or orange, I get some shades of pink or light orange on it. Black Eye [B)] This seems to happen no matter how clean my hands are, or how many times I wash them. Please tell me your secret!

THANKS Duke!

If I told you it would not be a secrete now would it... Tongue [:P]

I wanted to avoid a standard enamel gloss white....I have used it before and it took for ever to dry.....it could have been my technique?

I have heard the Testors BOYDS car colors work very well.....So I tried it and WOW!........I was able to handle the model after one day! but waited two to be safe.

I masked very carefully and I still got some small areas and pockets of overspray ......but it comes off easily with a q tip and some Novus plastic polish or any kind of super fine polish.

I just got word that my decals should be ready by the end of this week!...COOL!
After I finish with the decals then I can install the final detail parts! Big Smile [:D]

Fun?......well.....

I'm a builder first.....I love the parts scrounging.....extra detail stuff....small details with a paint brush.....but finish work?......I'm still getting use to that......I have gotten lucky so far for years of millitary and SCI-FI stuff that was mostly FLATS and metalizers......but GLOSS and Clear coats....thats a horse of a whole nother color!

Duke.....while you are painting your model angle it in the light to get a good looksie and make sure your putting on heavy enough coats or it will turn out grainny and more like flat.....but not too heavy!

Thanks Keyworth! Cool [8D]

Hey, if anyone's interested, there's another one of these kits up on eBay right now. The item number is 3186796010. It's starting at $35, no one has bid yet and there's 1 day, 2 hrs left on the auction.
