NEWS: Revell reissues 1/32 Huey w/something special in the box...

I was in my local hobby shop today getting some paint and supplies.  What did I see on the shelf?  The Revell reissued of their old 1/32 Huey.  Normally I do not buy models there, sorry, but their prices on plastic are ridiculous (Dragon M1A2 SEP v2 - $99.50 - WTF!!).   This one was only $20.99, mislabeled, maybe, maybe not.  The kicker for me was that it has markings for Bruce Crandall's MOH ride, Ancient Serpent 6 in the kit.  They look good and appear to be complete.  I snatched it up. If not for the decals alone.

The boxart is deceiving as it shows a UH-1C Gunship and says it is a UH-1D Huey Gunship (which never existed).  The plastic is the same old Revell kit with all the BS gunship parts and no troop seats, but those are easy to scratch up.  It builds out of the box into a UH-1H, but can easily be backdated to a UH-1D as MAJ Crandall flew.

Even though if first came out about 1969, it is still a pretty good kit and can be made into a really nice model with a little work.

Cobra Company and Fireball Modelworks both do a couple resin update sets for it too.
