In the stock UH-1D/H the center roof controller is the cabin light control panel.

An example of the center opening cabin light panel.

In the stock UH-1D/H the center roof controller is the cabin light control panel.  Note I said standard, there were as many modified Huey’s out there in the Nam days as there was creative Crew Chiefs.  To expand the L/H and R/H C1611 ICS capability we used “Y” cords. This allowed additional helmet connections to each box.  Again standard was 1 cord per C-1611

So a couple of switches and headset wires hanging down.. Is that correct...

Pretty much.  An intercom control box is in each side opening.  The middle opening can also have one.

Intercom Control Box

Roof section showing IC box in far side opening

Cobra Company has the IC boxes in their 1/35 UH-1 Detail / Correction Set (35011).

CC also has a couple nice sets for the 1/32 interior.

UH-1 Huey Armored Pilots' Seats (32002)

XM-23 M-60D weapons set (32004)

Thanks HeavyArty

I have the XM-23 already... Just scratch built those Armoured seats... Might have a look at that detail  correction set if I run into big trouble.....

Can anyone advise me.... Would instruments have been in the flat voids in the roof panel....

Hey Ian, looking like an awesome project in the making! It's been a long time since I've been in a Huey, but IIRR, the recessed boxes in the roof were for communications gear.  The team leader/squad leader/platoon leader would plug their headset into the center roof panel so that he could speak with the aircrew, or at least monitor conversations and pass along critical information....

Good luck with your project!

Lastly the cabin divider lacks detail so I'm planning to use the CMK kit as a template....

Posted by BEDLAM on Sunday, May 1, 2016 10:33 PM

Ok everyone..... Bear with me ... This is my first aircraft build.... And first kit under 1:24/25 build. I'm usually a car guy.. .. But I'm doing this for my Father in law (Vietnam vet 67 -73 , 101st Airborne, 117th AHC Little Annie Fannies, 5th Special forces and crew chief/door gunner) so I hope I get this right.... Some of you know me from another thread... But here we go...

Parts purchased

Helio 1:32 Revell

Cobra door guns

CMK cargo kit ( 1:35 but I can deal with that)

1:35 verlinden Green Beret figure kit ( once Helio goes on diorama will place them so they don't look out of place

Fireball Decal set for Slicks

And a ton of scratch building styrene...

First images coming up
