I think she looks really good , I particulary like the rotor fold . If my memory serves me , It was quite a while ago you posted a question about the inaccuracies of Italeri's rotor fold , I also like the flight deck she's sitting on too . Alltogther a nice build Thumbs Up [tup]

I have three EH-101's somewhere in my stash , perhaps sometime in 2009 I might give the RAF version a go ??

                                              Kind regards John

Sorry I haven't posted for a long time, work does tend to take control of things.

Please can anyone help me finish this beast.

I need to produce decals to fit this specific aircraft. I need to create decals (all white on the grey aircraft paint finish) to finish her. I have tried to scan a portion of plastic painted using the same paint as the fuselage, but the colours are no where near when printed out, I have tried to vary the colours but again nothing seems to match. PLEASE HELP. I don't want to come this far and fail to finish her( so far it has taken over 2 years doing a bit here and there to get this far)

I'm still looking forward to the release of the 1:48 scale version (I don't think my wife is though!!!!!)

Just a quick update, I have just tried to print my own decals to finish her, fingers crossed that they will match the paint, I will give them a day or two to dry before testing them.

I still have various parts to finish fitting and painting, but I think I am actually getting there ( I hope). Fingers crossed I will finish this baby this year, then I can conitnue with my hybrid EH101 and other projects ( a Motogp bike- yes something that doesn't fly ----all the time).

I hope everyone had a better summer than we did in the UK (more rain than sun). I won't complain to much because I was with my family this time.

Hopefully here are some photos of the flightdeck build:

This is the first layout of the rails in the deck required for the recovery system for moving the merlin into the hangar. Built on only plywood, adding strips of plastic where needed using superglue.

This shows the aircrat in position ( without deck detail)

Here is the "decklock grid" ( allows the aircrat to pin itself to the ship) - made from some speaker protective cover. Also the plates that allow aircraft movement left to right( port to starboard for all the navy guys) I have added the covering for the flight deck ( normal plastic sheeting cut to fit, putty was used to fill gaps surrounding the area )

Same area different view.

Here is the flightdeck with some colour. I was glad that the putty gave the slight contrast between levels as it does on the ship.

I should have taken some photos of the building of the flightdeck nets, but I got so into biulding them that once they were in place  --it was to late. Yep you can see were I got some of the deck marking wrong, but who ever really " measures twice -------"

I have done some work that will hopefully see me finish this build this weekend.

I needed to add:

the wing mirrors, windscreen wipers, engine exhausts, various small bits and ALL the decals.

The first part I though .......easy. Trying to get the wing mirrors to stay in place while the glue set--------AAAAAhhhh. Superglue also damaged the front windscreen, yes  should have taken more care but hind sight is so amazing. I'm still trying to sort out this "little problem".

The decals were great, a little help from a little solution and they they were in place. My homemade decals didn't work (the colour was totally wrong -but did sit on the model perfectly although the colour was totally wrong). I need to get or paint in a couple of numbers to complete the stencilling.

I hopefully will finish this project this weekend---with many faults--- but  after over two and a half years I think I have to put an end to this build. Yes I will probably tinker with it but after this weekend ( wife willing, she has suffered this much - pay back will be expensive, but I will pay)

Here are the photos so far:

I will hopefully provide more this weekend (provided I say or do the right things to keep my wife happy)

PS My wife is normally happy when I'm modelling as she knows EXACTLY where I am for hours.

Well I think I have done all I can for the time being. I will still need to add a couple of numbers and finish the surround for the flightdeck. Any questions about this build just let me know. Many thanks to all including my wife for putting up with it.

Now to start again on the hybrid EH101 (still waiting for the 1:48 scale version to be released)and my other project, a Motogp Yamaha (I have only built the chain so far, talk about going cross eyed)

Does anyone have any ideas on the best way that I can surround the plywood (plus keeping the look of a flightdeck) I have thought about using some decorative moldings or something similar.

I still haven't done any further work on my hybrid EH101 (I have been trying to build the Motogp bike-- not made a great deal of progress on that one either).

I would love it if Italeria relaesed the 1:48 EH101, but after numerous attempt of thrying to E-mail them from their web site (failing everytime) I phoned them-----they said basically that they won't be producing the 1:48 scale version. I really hope they change their minds, because I think it would make for an impressive model.

Merry christmas to all and I hope you all over indulge in the food and drink over the festive period, I will try my best too.

Just give a thought to all our men and women serving our various countries that are away from home.

Very nice build. Looks great. Oh by the way, as far as the "Marine One" goes. It's been cancelled by SecDef Gates. That's according to Combat Aircraft Magazine in the June-July 2009 issue. They also canceled more F-22's, C-17's, and the Combat Search and Rescue Helicopters.

Many many thanks Medicman71. It's a real shame to hear of the cancelled aircraft especially the search and rescue, what was the total amount of cancelled aircraft ? or did they not give a figure.

Just to give it a try I used a bit of software to create an anaglyph of the Merlin I built (many for a laugh). You will need the red/cyan glasses to view the picture, I hope you like it.

Merry Xmas to all.

No exact figures. Just flat out cancelled. And all those programs should not be cancelled. At least they've restarted the KC-X program (A new airborne tanker to replace the aging KC-135R.

At least they have kept something (maybe next year they will have a rethink and give the troops more support) . OOOHHHH now there's a project an a half an inflight refuelling mmmmmm. No better stop there my wife is managing to survive (just) with the builds I've got at the moment.
