I will bet bigtime that the kit mentioned is the VACU copy of the 1/48 scale AURORA kit that came out by some garage kit outfit a few years ago and the dude just does not know the exact size.
I'll write them and ask that he messure the length of the body.

OK......here is what the guy says:

Troy,
Actually, the fuselage is about 19 1/4 inches long. I just want to
make clear to anyone who bids, that vacuform kits are not easy, and
require a lot of superdetailing. I am, however, including several wheels
from Monogram's 1/48 scale C-47. They're much better tyhan what comes in
the kit.

Regards,
Rob

makes you wonder.......first time I have ever heard anything about this kit.

[i] I"d bid myself but I have never touched a vac form kit.

Click below on my Home page.....that 1/35 scale SPINDRIFT from the Land of the giants was a cheezy Vac u form kit from Lunar models. Lots of work!

with the panda kit in the wings I would hold off on this one.

I have seen pics of this vacu kit he is talking about. I think I saw them from "cobra-historian" but he seems to be MIA at this time. I dunno.. might be worth it for under 20 bones.

I remember seeing a 1/32 scale Vacuform Chinook at the Hobbit, years ago, and more recently in an e-bay ad, but the profile of the fuselage is messed up in the area from just behind the overhead transparencies down to the tops of the windshields, also the forward pylon shape and general position.

I gleamed this from a Yahoo Groups message board during a search:
Boeing Vertol CH-47: from Combat Models (32-056) - I have this kit and it is
of poor quality / almost no surface detail and unusable windscreen. Will be
hard to build...(but BIG!)
I dismissed this alternative kit after seeing these discrepancy's.... can't locate a picture however... Dead [xx(]

I built a 1/72 Vacu C-7A Caribou one time, and it was extensive, to say the least!

Also.... I got word today from "DRAGON MODELS" concerning the Panda Chinook series:
Dear Mr. White,
Thank you very much for contacting us. We have yet to hear from Panda when this kit will be available. My best advice would be to keep checking our website at www.dragonmodelsusa.com for all of the latest information on the Panda line.

Quite honestly we do not know if it will be available in the next month or even in the next 6 months. It has been announced in their catalogue but we haven#8217;t received any more precise information.

I will update Susan at VLS directly as soon as we get any better information as well.

Thanks again for your interest and please don#8217;t hesitate to contact us again if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Liam Cusack

Maybe the Thread width symbolizes what the threads will be like when pictures of completed 1/35th Chinooks start coming in, Troy? [:0]

I pasted that letter from Dragon Models up the page there a bit, and that seems to be the instigator, sorry. Cool [8D]

I tried a second attempt at e-mailing PANDA direct except this time I said I was Kevin Chang ( a friend of mine in Hong Kong )
....thinking that ONE: (If they have AUTO translate....they MIGHT respond if I were Chinese?...I know...kinda cheekee huh?

TWO: All I saked was "IF the 1/35 Ch47-A Chinook was going to be a 2003 or a 2004 realease"

I will keep youz guyz posted for sure!
