And Stern0... Yeah, E-Z water is a  pain in the *** for large areas.. The so called "Revolutionary modelers water" isn't that good...

Chris: I did not expect anyoneto find me just like that!  Good job! You should get the scouting medal!  And about a second figure, will still experiment with it.. Altough it looks good where as is And no, I did not choose the Panzer IV (Yeah, I'm surprised) as I need a little allied armour (Surprised I said that aswell) and picked the Sherman.. Or, didn't really pick anything, just sent the hoster a list of about 4-5 kits that I wanted.. He will take further contact

Not to call you out (hope I won't embarrass you haha) but great job!! Nice tie for first place in the online model competion, no wonder you wanted to finish this one up quick. Now I don't know, maybe it doesn't need that second figure! What kit did you pick out?? The Panzer IV?

Well, an update...  !!!

I used E-Z water from Woodland scenics. Actually my first succesful try with them, after I ruined another diorama many moons ago with it...

Alluminium foil and a Zippo-lighter is all I needed for this tiny amount:

And the result:

And of course one detail I forgot..  The soldiers.. weaponary?  Something so obvious..

Walther P-38 holster, 3 shades of brown. Unprimed.

And then, after a little dusting on the soldier with MIG pigments, the diorama was COMPLETE!!!!!

Huxy - OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!  Great job on that figure and the Panzer, the figure is AWESOME!  I do agree with Stern O though, though the base is nicely done, track marks are essential - other than that I can only say Well Done Sir, Well Done!!

Chris: Ya, I think it may look good...   We'll see..   I will atleast call this done when I get it done.... And experiment with a figure a little later..

So here's an update..    I started working on the sign, to write something on it. For the case of simplicity and shortness, I decided to write "Oslo".

I first tested it out on the same sheet I made the tutorial about...

And went on the "real" deal:

And then making the paint look like it was painted on wet:

Now what's this? A hole with a drop of whiteglue in:

Then we got this in:

Then attached the sign, a little crocked (Spellcheck?). I've also added a nail aswell (Not shown, picture comes later on)

Then repainted the base with a coat of black:

I've also added Johnson's to it to make it gloss, but it's not shown here..

And that was that! Getting real close now!

WOO!! I think it'd look good. Not that it doesn't look good now (It really does!!)- but I think it might be the beginings of a title, like "Baltazar’s Tale" ...or something.

Manny: This coming from you, really warms my heart..  I've seen your spectacular figures, and they are just top notch!!

Steve: Yeah, black is pretty hard.. I'd say white is even harder, altough less used..   The way I paint black uniforms do indeed turn out good!

Right now I'm attaching everything to the base.. I've painted the letters on the sign aswell. I just came back from touching up the wooden frame of the base with black, and are going to put a glossy coat of Johnson's ontop of it...  Now I am really coming to near end!!

    Hey Huxy nice piece of work! That signpost came out spectacular.

  Nice job on the Panzer I and the fig also. Imo black uniforms are some of the hardest to paint but you've pulled it off very well.

Ok..  I got arms on now, and I just need to weather him SLIGHTLY.. And then, he should be done. I have named him Baltazar, and it will be in the title, once I figure it out. So, here he is!

Jupp, the pole has been attached.. A slight glitch on it, but it is fixed...

This is very, very close to getting done.. I'll call it done when everything is on, and will experiment with another figure a little later....

So here's another update...  The figure is closing to an end, just need to get the arms painted. I've already started on them, but just fixing the mouldline and such.. And glued them to poles. So priming is next!

And I can't believe I didn't take any pictures while detailing the uniform...............  Sorry!

But before head attachment (see all the details?):

And with the head! Wohoo! Doesen't he look excellent where he sits!?

I still have to touch up where head meets torso, but that will come.. Here is a closeup. That little band there, symbolizing the iron cross, was hard to paint. First I even painted it wrongly with white inside and red outside. Heck, I even painted with reference, but I guess I was just blind.. But it is now fixed.

Also, those skulls on the collartab was very hard to paint...

Because you have that bit of extra space around the edges (and the front by the sign post), you might even be able to put in a standing figure, either looking in the same direction as the one you just painted (like they’re both looking at/remaining about the same object “off scene”), or perhaps looking at your current figure as if he was lounging on the tank and telling the standing figure a story or something like that.

Further up was the uniform. And as everyone should know, even black has it's higlights. Look at something black (Clothing preferably) and you will see that the thing is not entirely pure black, but very light grey on the edges aswell... So, for a start we hit the uniform overall with black:


We then give him a lighter shade:


Even lighter:


DONE! That was 5-6 coats all in all. Just 4 pictured however! Here you also see a little painting of the medals:


To give him some colour (And he won't look so monotome) I'll give him a white shirt:


Just the shirt is of 3 diferent shades. I'll apply a fourth when I get home again.

Now, the belt. Again, to give some colour, I'll give him a brown leather belt. I just can't stand a one monotome colour on figures


That is just the first layer. But then I ran out of time and had to go to school...
That's modelers.. Modeling the few minutes he has before he goes to school!
