Hi, All,

I'm in the process of replacing all, or at least most, of my images that Photobucket scrogged. I'll start with the finished diorama shots on and after Page 26 and work back from there.

Thanks for your interest,

Cheers,

Russ

Welcome, Liegghio!

I was an ECM tech too. Worked the C, D and E model buffs and also worked F-4s, both comm and ECM on all the models used in Nam. I heartily agree with your "vacation", tho I think I enjoyed my time on the big birds more. They were definitely a challenge.

Cheers,

Russ

Liegghio;

Haven't heard from Russ since April. While we're waiting to hear back from him you might want to visit us at the

THE OFFICIAL IN THE BUFF B52 GROUP BUILD

We were just discussing F-4's.

Same here. It was a happy day when I got transferred to an F4 squadron. No more crawling around the inside of a black bellied plane in the sun, and no 125 pound jamming transmitters to lug around. Working outside the plane, and carrying 20 pound warning receivers. It was like being on vacation!

And then I got transferred back to  SAC and Buffs.

Sad

Hey Russ, still building?

I've been away since 2014 - divorce, sold old place and moved to new place, 2 hip replacements, semi-retirement, and lost all my BUFF stuff for over a year piled up in a mountain of stuff I can't unpack.

Just walking again, and getting back to normal.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Ok, I'm confused...if you're kits are all built and mounted, what will you use the carts for? Confused  Ahh... disregard, I just saw your previous post on the Buff thread. So they're mounted to pylons but not to aircraft.

I'll still take a crack at building at least one cart for you. If they're not too difficult, maybe more. And you won't have to give up any of your missiles Smile. Do you have any diagrams or pictures of them?

Cheers,

Russ

Russ

Looks like an awful lot of work to scratch build some carts. All my hound dogs are assembled/painted and mounted on finished pylons. What color scheme are ya wanting?

I've been looking for a 1/72 kit of the cart but I don't believe there is one available.

I'd be willing to build you some carts in exchange for a couple of missile kits... Big Smile  It would depend, however, if I can find enough pictures to get the necessary measurements.

Cheers,

Russ

Russ,

Gonna be tough mixing all that 1/72 concrete...

Majer Kong

I've got a solution for that - I'm building a 1/72 scale concrete mixer...

Phew....I was concerned you mighta' gone and built a scale replica of a 2 mile runway or something.....

Man, I could use some denial right now Cool

Dom

Thanks for the concern, Dom. I had considered the runway, but even in 1/72 scale, it still won't fit in my garage. It would be 125 ft. too long... Propeller

Actually, I'm in a state of denial (Florida). The big items are pretty much done except resurfacing my tarmac, which was made in layers of paper and buckled due to the humidity down here. Then I have to build a display cabinet. So, I need to do some wood work - and I hate wood work Big Smile.

Maybe I'll tempt fate this weekend...Hmm

Dom,

Hes down there in TX probably working on his next top secret project.... Or maybe hes on a mission?

He could be filling out a 1/72 781 T.O. or maybe hes taking a little nap... He has been a little quiet lately.

Errr,

I was on a list for a 1/48 BUFF a couple of years back....in fact...

I have a 1/48 Vac B-47 and she's a beauty.....

May be time to check across the pond to see if that 1/48 B-52 wing set ever got finished.

Many thanks for the good words! I hear you vis the eye problem. Mine are having a hard time too. I may have to step up to a larger scale soon.

No problem on the pictures, bud...I'll post em for you whenever you're ready.

Bockscar

Hey Russ, did those carriages have steerable front axles?

~

Hi, Dom,

Many thanks for the good words, bud! Beer   Yea, the front wheels were attached to the frames by a vertical pivot bar and each wheel had a steering rod that attached to the tow bar. Unfortunately, you can't see it in the picture I posted previously. Below is a better angle. The hinge points were so small that I didn't try to make the wheels moveable. They are just glued right to the frames. At this scale, it hardly shows anyway.

Cheers,

Russ

Hey Russ, did those carriages have steerable front axles?

anyways, looks painful at any scale.

The bracket detailing on the rails pretty much blows me into the weeds.

You need professional help, pal Dunce

I said that Russ, because it makes me feel better....Propeller

Dang, but all those thousands of incorrect fingerprints Russ.......Bow Down

Anyways, great work, beauty rails, and if I didn't say this already, the micro-detail and pipes on

the engine(s) are fantastic!!!WowToast

I'm getting a real education as your progress.

Thanks

Hi, Guys,

I decided to rebuild my engine trailer to a simpler design. Simple as it looks, it was a pain to build.

Cheers,

Russ

Will be spraying the clear topcoat tommorrow (today?) May give it a day to just set and  dry. Its as done as mine get ceptin fer the hound dog pylons with the HSABs and MERs and the 500 pounders. i gotta order 3 hasegawa weapons sets to fill the pylons alone. I aint going where Russ went... Im using GBU15s minus the smart parts. doesnt that make them MK82s??

Pics will descend on Russ shortly after final dullcote.

ikar01

When I was TDY to Guam back in the mid 80s they had a "D"  model on a pedestal and that was it.

Here's a few shots of 52s at work:

Nice photos, ikar01!  Thanks!
