Allen,

Simple to buy: lonestarmodels.com, LSM 70354 XB/YB-52 Conversion, $30.00.

Same deal, cut the nose off and install the tandem cockpit resin parts. VERY good quality.

Beau,

I would LOVE to get me grubby little paws on one of the Lone Star sets, remember, i still have to build the YB-52!!  The OK Models set is near impossible to find nowadays.

Inventoried today,  1/72 scale  22 built , 4 under construction, 9 in the stash and 4 in what I call "DLM"

Total  39

1/144th  3 built

Total 3

Plus a Bear

Jim,

Hi and thanks for the words on my old heaps.....

I was asked to join the B-52 GB today and 15 minutes later the UPS dude was on the porch with a Tupelev Tu-95. i see a lot of late nights (and prop painting...) in me future.

just wonderin, when are the reds gonna put some Rolls Royce RB-211s on that thing? Or, I could send them some extra podded J-57s...

Email me at   rkline AT roadrunner DOTCOM

Beau,

Yes it is. Ive had it for at least that long. Ya had to glue it together and cut off the nose of Monogram "D". Ive got nothing but pain and suffering in that as it sits, built it in the early 80s, rebuilt it last fall, but the longer it took the more madder I got.... Oh and i STILL got extra decals left on stock.

BTW Thanks to all who think these old heaps are worth lookin at.... Any questions will be entertained to my best abilities, Just  remember to keep expectations low...

I find it quite ironic (?) that the day I get asked to join a B-52 build, a Tupelev Tu-95 Bear H arrives on my doorstep....

Sorry to hijack your thread Russ.

Allen, is that the old OK Models XB-52 conversion? I tried to find them for over TWENTY years.

I finally found Lone Star Models resin XB/YB conversion and jumped on two of them.

Hmm... Group build, XB-52... WAY tempting.

Excellent models. I thought I had a lot of BUFF's. I think I have around 18 of them in various types.

Since we are playing a bit of show and tell, here is my last BUFF.

I have 2 more H's that I want to finish.  I have decals now for my aircraft, 61-0025 with the noseart my crew came up with.  I have been possibly inspired  by the fine work here to put it on Alert.  That display base will take up some serious space.

I am looking forward to a BUFF GB.  Heck, I might even build the BUFFski (Tu-95) I have.

Russ thanks for posting those, that's the first XB-52 I've seen built, and congrats on it being a vac kit.

Dom

You're welcome, Dom. BTW, my apololgies but I misunderstood about the vacuumform - it was a mod that includes the nose from the wingroot forward, not the whole kit.

Russ

Well, Allen did a pretty good repair job there, I can't see any evidence of damage.

i wish I had one of those vac conversion kits myself, LeMay didn't like the tandem, but i

always did like the B-47, and that original X-BUFF looks a wee bit faster.

Buffjock: Wow! Those are some nice models! Hope you figure out the posting thing, I'd love to see more of your work.

Dom: Nice work there on the mirror, those look like they'll work out great.

Thanks Cliff, you know the story, by the time you finish the first one, you're actually done practicing and ready to make a decent one....lol

I agree, looking forward to seeing some more of Buff's work.

Hi, All,

Buffjock sent me some pictures of some of the models he's done (see below). The paint jobs look fantastic - they were done with rattle cans!  Nice work, Allen! BTW, he accidentally dropped the vacuform XB-52 on its nose, crushing it all the way back to the wingroot, but you wouldn't know it from the repairs he did.

Russ

Yeah Buffjock;

Nice builds. I wouldn't be to concerned about viewing closer than 10 feet, gosh knows some guys are using microcopes these days to build.....

Russ thanks for posting those, that's the first XB-52 I've seen built, and congrats on it being a vac kit.

The hatch lifters would sometimes raise up at high speeds and make a tremendous racket.  The EW and Gunners really didn't like that sound.  It makes you a bit nervous when the hatch above your ejection seat is making noise.

Russ, Thanx for the kind words about me projects. Fact is most of mine look better at ten feet than up close. My choice of backgrounds is not the best.. did want to ask you about the "stressed skin" effect you did. Thats something my XB is missing. I must say the XB-52 was the worst as the nose was/is a vac-form piece from the late 70s and it was very thin and brittle. theres a lot of five ton epoxy  and sanding in that nose. Still need to add walkways and BMF on the canopy..... its always something...
