My 8 year old son first dio pics

These are the pictures of my son Vasco first dio.I gave him the materials and he did all the job.
What do you think,does he have future or not?

not bad Pedro!! not bad!! it turned out better than my efforts at a dio!! you need to continue to encourage him, he's definetly got the talent in place it seems!! later.

I agree he has the talent. If he can do that at 8 , I can only imagine what he is going to be turning out in the future. Let him know that is a great job.

Man, he's only eight and he did THAT?!! That is incredible! He's definitely got talent; that's better than anything I could ever do! Definitely keep encouraging him!

Looks great!! However, you need to start him out right, historical accuracy. The jeep is wrong era for WWII. The jeep is a M151A2 used from mid-70s till replaced by the HMMWV in late 80s. Correct jeep for WWII was a Willys MB or Ford built GPW, as seen below:

Love the snow effect. It really gives a feel of a strong snow storm with all of them covered. I would love some more close-ups. Otherwise tell him great job! Better than anything I did at that age.

Thanks for your words guys, he was very happy and proud,when I translated your words.
He used for snow that snow spray can that we use in Christmas.
HeavyArty you are right about the jeep question,but when I told him ,he didn´t care (8 years) you know.
I am going to give you some close up pics, and thanks again,I think your words will contribute that the next time that I will go to a LHS,I will come back with my pockets empty.I don´t mind I like it also,he is for armor,me for aircraft.

That little boy is a big modeler. Composition is a talent / technique that you are either born with or learn after much study. Vasco is a natural, keep them coming, I am looking forward to seeing some more of your work soon.

WOW! I am jelous! THat is incredible, especially for his age. Tell him It looks great!
He had a good idea for the snow, Ive thought of it but never used it. Turned out good. ANd last of tell your son to keep up the good work.

Your son has done great work, I hope he stays interested in building models for a long time. Our hobby needs more young people like him for it to keep going strong.

Thank you all for your words,I think they are giving a good motivation to my son in the hobby,i give it too.
He is always looking if there is another reply.He is very proud with is dio.
I was hoping that he likes airplanes like me ,but is more fan of armor,ok no problem with that.
I agree with you Matrixone that the hobby needs young people to continue,here in Portugal,a lot of hobby shops are closing ,in Porto were i live ,we have only two.
The young people doesn´t have the pacience or the pleasure for it,it´s life.
Thanks to you all to contribute to my son happiness.

Quite nice indeed. Dealing with a good snow scene is certainly a challange for even experienced modellers. I can do almost as good and I'm 59.

I can't believe people are busting on this kid for historical accuracy. HE'S EIGHT, for crying out loud. Pedro, tell your son he did a great job and to keep up the good work. He is developing his imagination and creative skills. If he decides to compete someday, then he can worry about historical accuracy, but until then, let keep right on building them. I know I'm jealous. I wish I had skills like that when I was eight.

Thanks Tugcap and Bbrowniii,for your words,I must confess that I get suprised too.
I know that when i was eight,i think i didn´t do so good my aircrafts.
I give him my suport to continue the hobby(nº1) and then like you said Bbrownii ,the historical accuracy will come along with the age, i know that is an important factor,but in his age we don´t care too much.

Who cares about historic accuracy with a result like that ! Just think of a it like a 'what if', what if WWII started 30 later than it did. OK

Jeez, when I was 8 years old I didn't even know there was special paint for plastic models.

Keep up the excellent job, and can I contact your son in case I want to learn something from him ???

Please tell you son how much I enjoyed viewing his work ... he has done a great job ... and as far as historical accuracy ... don't worry about the little details at this age ... it's the basics that an 8 year old should work on ... and he is doing a great job of that !!!

Vasco has done very good job!, you should be proud of him. Give him more materials like WWII tanks and let's see his new work. I have 3 nephews - 9, 11 and 12 years old - but I don't think any of them can build a model this good, not to mention a diorama! Smile [:)]
