"Backhand Blow" *finished dio*

You have heard every compliment on the planet by now, and guess you could just include me in the chorus. It just look right! But I have the usual after thoughts I'll add (none are derogative)

* I loved the way you did the winter clothing. And yes I felt there was a breeze in the air

* I noticed that a lot of the men were smoking cigarettes, but lately have noticed a lot of   them doing cigars instead. Especially officers. The size looks right for a cigar here and there.

* I don't know how you would have done it, but would love to seen frost on the tank

* I was left with the impression that they were doing a recon of the area to see where to start the latest push. Maybe some maps?

* the MG42 gunner was very nice, but felt the belt was a little short as it looked like that was all the MG42 ammo

Got a Dremel and a medium steel-cutter bit, Manny?

I've done a bit of last-minute landscaping that way on cured celluclay to get stuff to sit right after the fact when there a skosh too much daylight in the wrong places..

You would have had to add in a little 1/35 scale dog catcher with a very satisfied look on his face, or a little German boy crying about his dog that ran away... hmmm maybe Meyer would even shed a tear or two?

hmmm no offence to KDawg, but I like the layout on Backhand Blow much better. KDawg's was a little too angular, somewhat off balanced almost. Obviously nicely done, jsut... a I don't know. But I will say, I really did like the snow he had down there, very clumpy and had a cold, wet feel to it almost. I think you just got lost in the confusion by the sound of your other post.

Better luck next time! And hey, at least you came home with something! Now whether or not you uh... mail it back is another story

I just finished the same kit and it was my first attempt at chipping.  Your chipping and weatherng are incredible!

I have plans for a whtewashed either PZ IV or Tiger 1 and I was wondering what colors and techiques you used for the weathering and chips? I see where some effects simulate mud and others wear and tear.  Your use of scale is right on!

I remember this as a WIP when I was quite new here, but somehow never viewed the finished dio!

Great job as usual Manny! I particularly like the camera angle of the last photo!

Yes, a dead soldier laying in that hollow at the back of the dugout would fit nicely.

I had a ?? for ya, too: what color is your MP40 mag pouch... is it a tan or a lighter green? I've seen refs for both, and I can't decide which way to go with the ones I'm working on, circa mid-late 1940. I know that Afrika Korp used tan, but trying to figure out if standard Wehrmacht issue was light olive green. And, I know you do your research. Steve   Most of my refs indicate that the pouches were of a canvas material with leather fittings and straps...From what I have seen, the canvas is a khaki-olive color with brown or black leather fittings and white thread stitching...I usually use khaki with just a dab of olive green...

I've worked for an importer in the past and I've seen thousands of MP-40s and MP-40 Magazine pouches. They WERE a canvas webbing material with leather straps. Supposedly they were made a tan color. but I've seen every varience of shade do to staining. Some are just about black... others very light brown...
