Wow Manny, you are da man. This dio is amazing. The weathering on the tank is 1st rate. Who did it? LOL. IMO a dead Russian, or maybe 2 would give a focal point to the scene. Especially with everyone having a nontialant attitude towards the bodys. Also a few dozen spent cartridges from the Maxim would add the to viewers imagination of a struggle of some sort.

Even as is, this dio deserves to win something. I love it.

WHOA MANNY, that is awesome!!!  I'm glad I surfed over here to dio's! Truly a spectacular piece of work there sir!!!  The tank has a bit more weathering than I  expected, very well done...just the right amount on the road wheles...VERY convincing!!!

No sneeking this baby over to GB's if my Stalingrad idea takes off, OK  The history lesson would be helpful though...

I had a ?? for ya, too: what color is your MP40 mag pouch... is it a tan or a lighter green? I've seen refs for both, and I can't decide which way to go with the ones I'm working on, circa mid-late 1940. I know that Afrika Korp used tan, but trying to figure out if standard Wehrmacht issue was light olive green. And, I know you do your research.

If you got any color refs from original pieces, I'd be grateful. Most color shots I have are reproductions. Irritating.

Thats a good point. The spent casings would sink through the snow, being warm an all. LOL.

Manny:  I did see this before, but definately worth another look...your figure painting skills are some of the best I've ever seen...

There is so much going on in this scene and it is all laid out so well.  Truly a masterpiece.  The tank weathering is very convincing too, I especially like the winter tracks.

Any chance you'll be attending an East Coast model show and entering this bad-boy?!, it would be a pleasure to see it first "backhand"!

Steve   Most of my refs indicate that the pouches were of a canvas material with leather fittings and straps...From what I have seen, the canvas is a khaki-olive color with brown or black leather fittings and white thread stitching...I usually use khaki with just a dab of olive green...

I've worked for an importer in the past and I've seen thousands of MP-40s and MP-40 Magazine pouches. They WERE a canvas webbing material with leather straps. Supposedly they were made a tan color. but I've seen every varience of shade do to staining. Some are just about black... others very light brown...
