I have the Big Ed set for the B-17G - it is a LOT of PE. Plus there's a lot of going back and forth between sections as some kits contain parts for multiple sections. And then there's considerations for the order in which things get done - build, paint, add PE/ add PE, paint, build/ paint, build, add PE/ etc.. The kit only took a week to arrive from Eduard's, directly.
I've been working on my big bird since the end of november and she's less than halfway finished. There's just so much detail, especially if you choose to drop the flaps. It's taking me 3 weeks, so far, just trying to add the detail in one flap.
Here's a virtual walkthrough of the fuselage of my B-17G. This is a combination of Eduard's PE and a lot of scratchbuilding.
