Not only does that look absolutely fantastic, it reminds me I have to start mine for my club GB. Hey, maybe I can just borrow yours
Marc

Awe shucks
It's all ya'lls fault anyway. Knowing that you all are watching gives me the extra push to take the extra step and make things better, instead of saying "eh, nobody's gonna see it anyway.....good enough".
HUGE Thanks, again!!!
Lancair IV Outstanding I'm lost for words Doc!
Outstanding I'm lost for words Doc!
That just about sums it up! Excellent work!!
Chalk up another Kill, Fermis...
It really doesn't get much better than that. Absolutely stunning model!

Awesome job!! Love it..!

Congratulations Fermis she turned out beautifully. I really enjoyed following your WIP and cant wait for the next one you rustle up
Cheers...
Congrats on a job well done!.
And that's one reason I sold most of my stash. Made it too hard to decide what to work on next or at times to work through the tough parts of the build, was too easy to just pick up another and carry on.

fermisWhy is it, that when you buy a kit, the urge to build it NOW is so strong, but once in the stash, that all changes???? I guess there's just too many options.
Because the "thrill" of the capture is but a fleeting feeling. Once you bag the prize, the luster rapidly fades and a new "rush" is needed.
That's why the stash grows so rapidly versus the finished builds. That and the fact that the acquisition is a far more easily attained goal than the process required to bring a build to completion.
It is the same thing for us when we see your completed build. You give us OUR "rush" of seeing yet another fine rendering from the 'fermis' factory through a few clicks on our computers.
In a way, I guess that makes you a "pusher" of sorts.

Thanks again gentlemen, this one was probably my favorite build yet, I think I only cursed once during the whole thing!!!!! Very rare!!!
stikpusher What's next?
What's next?
Good question, I openned up the doors to the stash this afternoon and just stared at it waiting for one to jump out at me. Why is it, that when you buy a kit, the urge to build it NOW is so strong, but once in the stash, that all changes???? I guess there's just too many options.
That one is a prizewinner for sure! What you have done with this old beauty of a kit is simply beautiful! The methods you used of taking basic materials and fashioning them into all the miniature details is no less impressive than the finished results.

Fermis another wayyyyyyyyyyyy over the top build I find that they just keep getting better and better and cant believe thats possible, but the proof is right here in the pictures. Me thinks you have earned the Nic Lancair has given you Doc Fermis.
Randy So many to build.......So little time
Outstanding work on a classic!
Cheers

She's an eye popper thats for sure, well done Fermis and thanks for sharing this build
Now THAT is what I am talking about! Well done my friend, it's builds like this that make me want to build one myself.
The weathering is just right IMHO, worn but not worn out.

Sorry guys! I took a long weekend up north, got back to a very busy schedule of work. All that I had left to do was the canopy(Squadron vac-form excpt for the front piece), antenna wire(stretched sprue) and the gun, which I scratched some new handles on and also scratched an ammo box from alum.(no pics of that though, no batteries for the cam). I had yesterday off, so I got her finished. I got some battries today!!!!
Here she be!!!!!
Gotta say every build is more impressive. Well on your way to the title Meister. Pinch the hose? Classic...
Strike the tents...
Now if you can condense this thread in to an article and submit it for publication in the magazine. This is the sort of stuff they used to publish that kept me subscribing.
Top work on those seats and straps Fermis beautifully painted, have you any updates or are you just teasing us?
Cheers....
fermis WOW, thanks again everybody, I'm almost starting to think I'm gettin good!!!!
WOW, thanks again everybody, I'm almost starting to think I'm gettin good!!!!
Getting good ??? Heck Fermis I can only hope to be half as good when I grow up
Did I miss the finish on this one ?
Golly, ya'lls gonna make me blush
JETM- they are my teacan seats.
Baron- Buckles were tea can alum and fine wire. I have no idea what the effects would be with a punch set. That piece came from the scrap yard. If I hadn't had the part, I would have drilled out the holes, then cut the piece to size. I don't have a punch set......yet!!!
Thanks again all!!!!
NOW THAT IS some masterful work Doc Fermis you are truly a plastic surgeon. Now I gotta figure out just how you did that
wow.. really great stuff
[quote user="fermis"]
Good?.......... It's a freaking work of art!!
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
I like the technique you used for the gunners seat. Is that you Arizona Tea seats there in the last picture?
WOW! Fermis, excellent scratching, the earlier posts were impressive, but these latest details are excellent! What did you use to scratch the buckles and other harness bits-drink can tin, or is it some other stock? And for the gunner's ring, is the stock thin/light enough to use a punch set like Waldron's or MicroMark's to do the lightening holes? Or would it damage the edges of the taps?
You've got a really fantastic TBD shaping up here, well done!
Regards,
Brad
