phule - Actually, the 190A was fitted with a Jumo 213 & required a longer fuselage to restore the center of gravity, becoming the 190D. The Ta 152 was derived from a 190D. Its just that the two kits are almost at the extremes of the development of the airframe.

Since I've looked at these two pics together, and moreso the two planes side-by-side, I'm overwhelmed by how much the Ta 152 looks like an FW 190 on anabolic steroids !

I got the gear & gear bays done on the kits this weekend, so I thought I'd post pics of the Ta 152 & FW 190. I'm thinking of doing the oleo portions of the gear legs with foil.


The wing halves are glued & need clean up, and the fuselage is just dry fitted.


I still need to glue the inner lower wing halves, and do some filling on the cowl.

I also got all the armaments painted, along with the exhausts. The canopies are Futured & drying as I "speak." I can hardly wait to paint the camo on these birds. Thanks for lookin' !

damn, if my scanner only worked, i have a picture of a Ta 152 from behind showing the long wingspan and camo used. the book is "German Aircraft of the Second World War" by J.R. Smith and Antony L. Kay. has pictures of damn near every german aircraft of ww2

This is the only pic I've seen of a Ta 152 that shows the area behind the spinner. Its a low-quality shot, but you can see the "+" shape supporting the cowling (points). The kit appears to be accurate. On the right are the EduardPE parts for inside the cowling. It doesn't use the same radiator as seen on an FW 190D or Ju 88/188 with Jumo engines.

obiwan - the DML & Dragon kits come with PE, and I also added the Eduard PE set. I've got another Ta 152, recently rereleased by Dragon, form Great Models for about $24. I think the Eduard set was about $18. The Eduard set comes with a blanking plate for the wheel wells, if you build the Italeri kit (without engine). From the wheel wells, you can see the bottom of the engine.


The 2 frets on the left come with the kit, and the 2 frets on the right are Eduard.


This is the engine & open cowl panels that come with the kit.

I was missing seeing your replys on the forum and now know
what kept you so busy. excelent stuff!

I too have the italeri Ta 152 the canopy is a little crude
and there is no front engine detail (when you look att he engine from the propeler you see blank plastic).

I see this is the same from your photos
for your kit is there a photoetch part in front?If so where can I get it?

There's something special about a build at this stage... before any paint or hard exterior detailing. The model's "Turning Point", I call it.

Madda - its not so much work when you consider that I'm painting the same colors, clearcoating, washing, drybrushing all 4 at the same time. Its just like one big kit. The most difficult part is keeping the parts straight. Don't want to put Me 262 engines on a Stuka, or the Stuka's cannons on an FW 190.

cuda - I'm a media arts student at college, and next semester doesn't begin till the beginning of February. I'm also disabled, so I sometimes spend 8 to twelve hours a day building when I'm not in school.

Swanny -Jaguar made some of the best detail sets I've ever used. I did their Ki 44, Mc 202, & Typhoon. I still have a Typhoon set left for my bubbletop.

Gary - I'm in the beginning stages of using a Verlinden set in a Hasegawa Arado 234B-2. I just picked up a Hasegawa A6M2N Rufe & A6M5. I also hear the Me 262 Mistel calling my name. Decisions, decisions !

TANGO - the Ju 87 will be in Rudel's markings, with winter camo. I'm looking forward to finishing it as well. All the flying surfaces, including flaps, have PE actuators, which are easily knocked off & lost. I long for the day when I no longer have to touch it !

Thanks again, I really appreciate the compliments. If anyone else out there gets "builders block," just post pics of a build in progress. The motivation really keeps me going !

Wow, you're starting to look like a professional modeler. Like the looks of that Stuka. Saw one done once with the Jaguar resin guns - too bad they are not availible any longer you would probably really like them.

Jeeves I've got plenty of room, providing I don't start any of my 1/48 bombers. Then I'll have to "make" room !

nmayhew - Its the DML kit. Its been recently rereleased by Dragon. Both kits have the engine and PE - something I don't believe the Italeri kit has. The Dragon rerelease is molded in the darker, harder plastic, which I feel has better relief. I'm going to use aftermarket FW 190D-9 stencils & insignia. I'll have to hunt for an aircraft #, or use the kit's.

Rebel - Yep. Its the release with Priller's markings. I never follow assembly sequences. I've built this kit (and its varients) quite a few times (7 or 8), so I know the problem areas. With this kit, I don't glue the wheel well fronts to the wing bottom, then I glue the wing tops to the assembled fuselage (too much detail to sand away there). Then I glue the wing bottom to the fuselage. When that's dry, I glue the wing tops to the bottoms. I then assemble the cowl to the fuselage, aligning the wing bottoms & cowl bulges. Its more complicated this way, but I don't have to fill & sand anywhere. I've built 4 or 5 of the Tamiya kits also, and while they're easier to assemble, I feel the DML/Dragon kit has much finer detail.

Wow! looks pretty sharp. What I want to know is how you got those wings on the Dragon FW-190 to fit so well. The ones on mine fit pretty poorly. I saw a new(?) one with Priller's decals at the hobby shop for $8.00 and was thinking of getting it and having another go at it.
