Name your own fighter/bomber.

If you had the chance and could turn back time to be a fighter pilot or a captain on a bomber Big Smile [:D]

Which group would you like to fly for and what name
and/or noseart would you give your "bird"?
Has anyone ever thought to build something
like this in 1/72 or 1/48??

I would fly with VMF-214, and call my Corsair "Wild Weasel". I know, I know - the Wild Weasels weren't thought of then, but, neither was I!! Big Smile [:D]

Without a doubt...I'd be in the 357thFG with C.E. Anderson, and Chuck Yeager and my P-51 would be...oooh that's a tough one...I'll have to get back on that.

Being a Cold War product as I am, I remember being a little kid watching the Canadian Voodoos make the nightly news every now and again when they would scramble to intercept a Tupolev Bear that made its way into Canadian airspace.

I can't really visualise the nose art, but I'd have me a CF-101F from 416 "Lynx" Squadron (the last Voodoo unit) when they were based out of CFB Chatham on our East coast, say about late 70's early 80s and I'd simply call her "Bear Trap"

), the battle of britain was fought mainly over south east england, at whose tip lies the county of kent Smile [:)]

(where i was brought up), where most of england's hops are grown(you know those things that one uses to make proper beer).
if it was a bomber it would have to be a big lancaster, "wealden revenge"!!

I have 2 bombers that are my favorite, the A-26 Invader with the 8 gunned 50 cals in the nose and the PB4Y-2 Privateer.

yeah it would have to be something like "Mad Dog" or "Wild-Flower"(with some knock-out pin up!) I don't know, man I wonder if pilots ever had this much trouble for real?

I'd be flying a P-47 with the 56th Fighter Group (what a surprise!!!). I suppose I'd have to name the plane "Southern Belle" or "Tennessee Miss" after my wife.

Although I've been an aircraft mechanic for 30 years, I never really had the desire to fly in combat (once heard the statement made, "The Air Force was smart, they send their Officers out to do the fighting"). Besides that, for 20 years I was a "field animal". If there isn't any dirt, dust, mud and weeds around, how can it be fun?

Having said that, for several years I tc'd an M-577 that we painted "Eights and Aces" on each time we went to the field (Anybody here know what two aces, two eights and a trey is called?)

One year at AT, one of my guys painted Shark mouths on it, causing the CSM to observe to the BnCO - - "Nose art comes to the National Guard".

The group would have to be the 4th,the highest scoring group in the 8th AF (air +ground kills). P-51 would be the AC. Name/nose art: MICHIGAN MESSENGER/ Hitler recieving a Western Union bombgram. Individual AC letter would be S and if possible the serial no. would have the number 26 or 13 in it.

I actually did this once.
I built a Monogram 105 thunderchief and handpainted 'Barbara' in red with a little heart next to it! We were dating at the time, *how sappy is that* I showed it to her, and she loved it! Sadly I don't have the thud' anymore, but I've still got her! :)
