Not much of an update today. Lots of filling and sanding. No one wants to see all that. Lol. Got the engines together but the need more work than the airframe does. Wanting to get the wing on soon and work more on the flaps. I hope to have pics soon. Thanks.

You're making me scared to even look at my kit's box! Maybe I'll hide it further back in the closet!!!!

It's really not that bad of a build. Ya gotta remember, this my first build in a VERY long time. I'm doing a lot of scratch building and learning a lot of new stuff at the same time.

Thanks, that means a lot. I've had help from people here and ARC where there's a guy that has acctually built and worked on them since day one. I hope it turns out as well as i'd like. I'm kinda busy at work this week but will try to get a pic update soon.

Hey all, finally an update. Been real busy with work and the holidays so I haven't had much time to work on the Osprey. But I have pics!!! Here's some pics of the flaps that i'm building. I have one wing done and should have the other side done tomorrow. Please excuse the mess....still lots of clean up to do.

Drilled holes in the wing to hold the brass rod that the flaps will be attached to.

The flaps aren't attached permanently yet as there's clean up to do. They'll be attached after painting. Thanks for looking.

The flaps are done!!! Toast As I said before the flaps aren't attached permanently and neither is the wing (that's next). The flaps and details will be attached after clean up and painting. I know it's not perfect but I like it. Thanks for looking. Now on to the pics.

Nice job, I think they look great! ... and I wouldn't worry too much .... As long as you made an attempt at accuracy, and even MORE importantly, you're HAPPY, that's what's important.

BTW ... are you thinking about going to the Model Mania Show in Stafford in April? It's the only show that I'm going to be able to make this year, so I'm going ... hell or high water!!! Maybe we could meet up there if you're thinking about going....

Looking forward to more! ...

Thanks MC. Oh yeah I plan on going for sure. That's my birthday weekend and I hope to put the Osprey in the show too. Yeah we gotta meet up. I was there last year and spent almost all day there. Had a great time.

I'm about to attach the wing, add the front cockpit canopy and prime the whole thing. The engines are about done. Want to prime everything to see how bad it looks....lol. Hope to have some more pics later this week.

Fantasic job thus far Medicman!  You are putting a lot of work into this build.  I heard this kit was a bit of a PITA but you are taking it even further.  Bow Down  Keep up the good work!

Thanks Ron and Kevin. I'm really enjoying this build even if it is taking me a while to do. The kits really not that bad. It's just that Italeri just reboxed the prototype with a few extras to make it look like a production bird. And the only aftermarket parts out there are wheels from Royal Resin and decals with a walk around CD from Flying Leathernecks. The reason I decided to drop the flaps is all the Osprey pics that i've seen with it on the ground....they all have the flaps dropped. So we'll see it how it turns out. Thanks everyone for looking.

Here's a pic.

Here's a few pics of the first round of primer. Sorry for the crappy pics, I was out in the garage. I already see one spot that needs to be fixed. Bang Head

Here she is all primed. As you can see in the first pic, the top of the wing where I did the surgery needs more work. Bang Head Anyone that has any ideas on how to fix that better please let me know.

Looks good ... as far as the gaps on the top of the wing, dont' be afraid to fill that sucker with putty and then sand it smooth.

From looking at past pictures it looks like you used sheet styrene with CA glue. CA glue will fill small gaps but takes a lot longer to fill larger gaps as it needs to build up .. plus it's a royal pain to try and sand down. I like to use either milliput or Squadron white putty. Both would work well for filling the gaps you have and will sand down smooth.

Hope that helps....

Yeah thanks. That's what I figured I'd have to do. I do have some squadron putty, not sure which one though. How long do you let the putty dry? I am happy with the engines though. They came out better than I thought. And they were the worst as far as fit, filling and sanding.

Not much of an update really. Still working on the wing filling and sanding. Here's a few pics of the gear all ready for instillation.

Green is better but white isnt bad. I usually let it dry overnight. I like Miliput better though.

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?

Yeah I have the Squadron white that I plan on using today. Bang Head And to make matters worse. I just realized that I painted the gear and wells the wrong color. After someone told me and checking my references. The gear and wells are supposed to be Light Ghost Grey, not white. Oops And i'm out of primer and Light Ghost grey in the spray can so it's time to break out the airbrush.
