The Caspian Sea Monsters, guys. Tongue [:P] Those things are just out of this world..! My favourite would be the Bartini model!

In the normal world, I'd go for the Canadair CL-215 water bomber.

Convair Sea Dart. Amazing. A fighter jet that could take off and land on water.

Toss up between the PBY Catalina and the HU-16 Albatross. The Cat is the odds on favorite for it's roll in the Black Cat missions. Mine is painted that way, all gloss black! They were the first Naval special air operations unit! My old Air Guard unit in Maryland flew Hu-16's. They are now the only ANG unit to be equipped with the C-130J models! Only other unit is the Hurricane hunters who also got C-130J's.

Mine would have to be the Sikorsky S-38B. This 1925 design was the first aircraft to explore the African continent. And if any knew where I could get a model of the aircraft please let me know.

Hmmm.. Would be the Beriev A-40.... The biggest and probably the coolest looking aircraft... Range:5500km with a 10000kg payload!!! Performs any role from military transport to fire fighting....

Cheers,

Right on, claymore68! That Boeing 314 (Pan Am) Clipper was a beautiful airplane. I hope these polls don't always assume military...

Pat

I would also choose th PBY Catalina. Not only for it's record, but it is also the namesake of my home. Catalina Island,Ca.

PBY-5A Catalina. Such an important part of the allied victory in the Pacific. And just so cool looking (in an ungainly way). Smile [:)]

I've always admired the Pan Am clippers, but also the Kingfisher and the HU-16
Albatross. There's a workhorse for you.

PBY Cat, no contest. used by all the allies during WW2, many roles in the military, and can even be used at a passenger aircraft (Cathay Pacific), Fire bomber, and a light cargo aircraft.
Second would be the SA-16 Albatross

Hmmm Tough one! PBY is a good choice, very important aircraft, looks and sounds cool-saw one at a local airshow. The Supermarine Schnider(sp?) Cup floatplane racers were sweet too (Spitfire was developed from them) of course ther is the Lockheed Vega on floats, Oh well I'll take the PBY-5 (Amphibious)

Insired by recent shows on the Wings Channel i decided to start this new poll. Favorite Sea Plane.

My choice will be the PBY Catilina for its crucial roll in the battle of MIdway, without it, the battle and the war could have been dfferent. God only knows the war could have been different.
