The only one you need to compete with - is your last model. The great thing about these group builds is the chance to pick up a few tricks from the other builders!

Went to the hobby store today to purchase a Verlinden USAAF ground crew to go with the B-25 and found out that the re-release of Revell's B-25J has was not in stock, However they did have Revell's old B-25J which is the same one Hans has. So for the group build i'll be doing the same kit as Hans but will probably get aftermarket decals.
Just thought l'd let evreybody know.

Yeah, that SHOULD be common among the early (read: Glass) "Gun Nose" kits... There are parts you need on one sprue that aen't on the other... If you'll notice, there are more holes in the front clear panel for the bombardier station. That's the part you'll need to do the "Jaunty Jo" version, while the nose panel on "Finito Benito" gets the one with two holes... "Benito"-version of the nose was manned and equipped with the Norden...
Monogram decided to add an entire extra clear sprue to re-do ONE part... Allows you to build about any gun-nose (early glassed strafer) or low/med altitude bomber... THAT'S why I love Monogram kits, raht thar....... 16.00 bucks and gobs of versions to chose from.. Including fictional (read MINE.. Back when I was in the big one thar..Dubya-dubya two, yup... )
Yeah, and a heart-felt welcome aboard from me too... This is a FUN BUILD and there's no time limit, and no "talent" requirement, other than to be talanted enough to find the thread and jump in,lol..

In the Febuary 2011 issue of the Finescale modeler magizine they have an article on weathing a AMAZING 1:72 scale A-20 Havoc. Now I Know we aren't doing the A-20 or 1:72,but it has roughly the same shape as the B-25 and was used in the same theaters.

IIRC (I'll have to dig the issue out to be sure), I had some problems with the weathering on that one... Not the least of which was amount of gloss on it for such a heavily faded aircraft...
Shot the B-25 fuselage innards with some Krylon primer last night - first time using the stuff so I wanted to try it on the interior of something, just in case! I'll leave it alone until tomorrow at the earliest before I look at a finish colour just to make sure it's done off-gassing...
Made a big ol' pot of Texas Red last nite.. Dealing with some off-gassing m'self...
So far, I got the nose structured out, and am currently doing the bomb-panels and wire bundles... The IP has taken a powder somewhere though, so I gotta scratch-build one from the "master" I have in the other J kit I got left...
I also gotta decide on just what's gonna be happening to this bird on the diorama, so I kinda got a "dio-cramp going on... Whether I do an easy engine-change, rearm and refuel, crew pre-flight, or engine-change with battle-damage repair going on, I haven't decide, although I'm leaning toward the latter, in order to show as many panels open and/or missing I as I can justify, without it having to get sent to depot or written off...
Don't mess with Texas (red)!! I love volunteering others to show off some battle damage...

You know, everything I know about that movie I learned from reading "Mad" magazine and it's parody of it, "Catch-All 22"... I've yet to actually see the movie, except for occasional bits & pieces...
I don't want to do an "Assembly Line" dio like I'm doing with the B-26, yet I want enough open here & there for details to show... Best way to get that accomplished is have figures near to or pointing at those areas...
Hans... Don Hammerloni.. you HAVE to see that movie.. lots of B-25s.. lots of interior nose shots.. very funny to.. it is serious to... lots of one liners.. many big stars...
you could do a scene ,, some mechanic is changing some gizmo.. and the crew is lounging around in the shade of the plane waiting for the guy to finish.. maybe a mechanic hanging our the pilot window with a guage or radio part in his hand.. handing to another mechanic on the ground to go 'fetch" him a replacement..
That becomes an excuse for having a few jeeps around with "follow me" colours to brighten the place up as well...
I've got a pic or two of Paul Mantz' and Frank Tallman (of Tallmantz Aviation Fame) B-25 camera-ship "The Smasher" while it was wearing "war-paint" for that movie... It served as both "actor" and camera ship...
It'd make a cool conversion project... Someday..

Okay, I am going to take the plunge. I wanted to do a few quick OOB builds, before tackling some more involved kits like my 1:32 Tamiya Stang... So, I always wanted to do a B-25J and I had a Revell offering in the stash, so I figured, why not. I do not want to do any super detailing and I am debating to go the NMF route or the Olive Drab. I like the looks of both. I'll decide when I have to.

Ok, got wife to give up her rig for a bit so I could upload. Had to email 'em to m'self though....
She's in her "Memphis Belle" paint here though, so I mispoke... The "Catch-22" photos are of poor quality, kinda small, and didn't scan worth a damn.. But other than much fresher paint and different numbers and codes, she's the same bird...
Pretty sure the "Someday" will be in the next year... Not this build, at any rate...

Probably shot that from the nose of "The Smasher" above... Just a SWAG on my part, but I think it got the (Bug)"Smasher" tag becasue of all the bug that got smashed on the nose-plexi, ruining some shots...
IIRC... its shot from the ground.. u see alll of them take off.. no CGI... all bombers.. but I bet that ship was there..
